Well, there's this guy on XDA who has figured out how to extract bin and tot files. The structure of the tots and bins are different for each phone. But I got the information for xonar_ to add support for this phone and the tool will now extract tots for:

    MS770
    LW770
    MS870
    VS870

    Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879915

    Compiled exe for windows: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39745676&postcount=127

    Compiled Linux script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=39761727&postcount=130

    How to use:
    Open cmd or terminal
    type
    Code:
    Binextractor -ebh "file name"
    Binextractor -extract "file name"
    y
    y

That's it. Just wait and all the partitions will extract.
To open system.img either mount it with linux or use ext2explore for windows.

    Thanks to:
xonar_ (for making this and providing the source to compile)
    interloper (for linux version)

Wait!!!!!!!!!! I'm not done....continued on post 2. You must be wondering how to get the tot file...right?

Ok, you must have the firmware for the phone: http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-...re-official-motion-4g-10c-d-e-f-firmware.html
Or look for firmware for intended device you are trying to extract.

Convert the cab file to KDZ by following directions in this thread:
    http://androidforums.com/motion-4g-...rick-lg-motion-unroot-getting-1-5ghz-kdz.html

If already a KDZ, then leave it as KDZ.

Download this (Windows only, there's no source :( )
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566532

    Code:
    LGextract -kdz "filename"

You should now have a tot. Enjoy :)

(I am asking navossoc about a Linux version.)

Thanks to navossoc (for LG kdz extractor tool)

    Well... that is nifty....

Question.... will this help us be able to flash over something without a locked boot loader? (I'm asking because someone else is going to real fast...so I figured I'd cut to the chase)

    It only extracts, not compiles.

So, what is a tot?

Same as a bin. It contains the firmware that is flashed on our LG phones.
