Jelly Bean Direct Download

Kies works better IMO

First I downloaded Kies to my computer SAMSUNG KIES
Then up updated my Kies to the newer version
Then I opened up the program and connected my USB to the computer and my smarphone
Then I waited for Kies to recognize my device.
Then Kies asked me if I want to upgrade to the new firmware upgrade
I clicked yes and followed all the prompts then the uploading started & had to wait till it was completed, then it downloaded to my phone then I had to wait for that to complete then once it was done the phone rebooted and I had JB on it. So awesome!

Here's the link on how to do it SAMSUNG

Here's the link to download the jelly bean update directly instead of using Kies : Support - More Cell Phone Providers SPH-D710 | Samsung Cell Phones

To those who can't get it to work . . . you have to read and follow the instructions you see on your computer screen VERY CLOSELY. I thought it wasn't working until I referred back to the instructions and saw the Click Here to Start Download button. Until then the phone said it was downloading, but there was no progress. Once I clicked the button on my computer the download and upgrade was fast and painless.

Is there any way to get this update without a computer? I don't own one sadly...I do have an Acer a500 tablet though if that helps

You might possibly be able to use Mobile Odin to flash the TAR file of the GB28 Rom. Look at my stickied root guide in the all things root forum for a link to the GB28 "OneClicks" as well as a link to Mobile Odin.. the link to the GB28 OneClicks also includes a TAR file. I'm not sure if it will work correctly with Mobile Odin. I certainly recommend getting to a computer, borrow one maybe to be sure everything goes smoothly. You can simply download the GB28 exe file (oneclick) install the USB drivers, plug in your phone, click start on the exe file and bam ya got jellybean! :D

can someone help?? it won't go past 97%

windows 7 screen shot

Well, if it doesn't want to install that way, you may want try the OneClick on the guide in the All Things Root section of this forum. Its a simple EXE file similar to what you are using in the picture you posted.

How long has it been stuck on the 97%? I know it's scary to just unplug a phone in the middle of a firmware upgrade!

so far an hour... i let it go for a while before, got mad at it and unplugged it, did a battery pull, and turned it back on, for it to say "Firmware Upgrade Encountered an issue, please uses the recovery option in Kies" downloaded the kies and it won't recognize the phone.. brick wall!!!

I would try the OneClick. Can you boot the phone into recovery by holding volume down while powering up?

no, i can get into download, but not into recovery.. when i try the recovery, it shows the message ""Firmware Upgrade Encountered an issue, please uses the recovery option in Kies"

i've tried just about everything to fix this.. i've had the phone less than a month, so i think i'll just take it back and see what they say

We can get ya going no problem! :)

Go to my guide here: http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?t=692347

There, you will find a link to the GB28 One Click file in the Library section in the second post. Click on that link. I assume you'll want the unrooted version of the Jellybean update? If so, just download the "Stock Unrooted NoData Restore" or the "Stock Unrooted System Restore".. the nodata preserves your data and settings and the system restore installs Jellybean fresh. You can try the nodata but I think you should backup your internal sdcard and do the system restore to get a nice clean install of the new Jellybean :)

Once you download the EXE file follow the instructions in the part of the guide that says "How to return phone to stock".. if you have any trouble or questions let me know

Okay.. I realize I rambled on a bit. I'm sleepy ;) So.. Let's simplify this so we can make it easy for you to install Jellybean:

Follow the instructions in the third post of this thread that says "How To Return Phone To Stock":

Well, I updated to Jelly Bean this morning. Didn't run into any problems. Still did not find the Virgin Mobile update so it loaded the Sprint update but everything seems to be working ok so far so I don't care...as long as everything is working I'm great with it.

I've only played with if a few minutes and need to reload some apps but seems really smooth and maybe a little faster...we'll see.
