Hi everyone,

Love my new Desire but T-Mobile is the biggest load of steaming $hit ever! I remember when it was "one to one", it just as bad then!

I never get proper reception in my flat or pretty much anywhere, I live in Bucks and should get good reception but I never do. Its only ever at 3 bars HSDPA max, most of the time its 2G 3 bars, or if im in my flat, sweet FA.

My wifes damn iPhone sits there smugly with full 3G reception:mad:

I tried swpping my sim into another phone and its still crap.

Can I get off this contract as I'm in 14 days still....obviously I will get the phone but with another provider...is this do-able????

or will they say nothing wrong with the phone etc etc....

14 days in and you DO have reception, they'll say that you're stuck with it. T-Mobile (in fact no network) will guarantee 3G or anything above a standard voice and 2G signal. Even then, their contract gets them out due to network congestion, hardware failures, etc.

They'll say you ought to have checked the signal coverage thing on their web site and that there's nowt can be done.

There is usually a clause in the contract that will get you out if you have no reception. When I signed up to Orange for my Desire it said that if there was no coverage what-so-ever where I lived I could get out of the contract, or if I moved to an area where there was absolutely no signal. I assume this is the same with other networks. T-Mobile offer a 7 day return policy on ALL contracts, no questions asked but as you are over that period it isn't looking good!

Sorry mate, wish I could be of more help. It's not the phone, it's the network that's the issue, just try speaking to their CS team and see what you can do.

All networks base whether they deem you to have a signal as outside, not inside, and the OP stated that he get's signal, just nothing IN his flat. Hate to say nothing but negative, but if T-Mobile check their logs and you are making calls/texts in the area, even if it is outside, then chance are they will say that they are providing all they need to.

After speaking with customer services and them agreeing I live in a blackspot, coventry t mobile will not tefund as its over 7 days. Any ideas people???

Only useful suggestion I can make is that you look for a handset with known better reception ability. Something (probably older) with an external aerial. Then sell the Desire and get an iPod Touch for apps and stuff.

Where abouts in Buckinghamshire do you live?

I live in Hertfordshire and my signal is perfect but travelling up to Milton Keynes and there's hardly any service apart from G.

Im near Wycombe, it always has been the worst network here...thought it may have improved in the last 12 years...

Did you upgrade, or a new customer?

All I could find that may help is - T-Mobile - Answers

I was a new customer but rest assured, it will be the last time EVER. I guess I know why its cheapest now!

Is the antennae in the base of the device - as with the nexus?

Could you be inadvertently covering the antennae when you pick it up?

Did you get the device from CPW? If so, it *may* be unlocked. If so, try your partner's iPhone sim in there (I presume she's on O2).

This kind of poor signal quality should be a distant memory in this day and age.

Time for an update...

T-mobile customer services on the phone were very helpful howver t-mobile shop in coventry were complete cocks and refused to give me a refund as the phone can only be returned in 7 days not 14, even though technical support confirmed i am in a receptionless area.:mad::mad:

Manager did not call me back even when i asked, might pay them a visit when I head up there again.

If anyone has any suggestions, they are welcome!

Thats not correct.
There is no returns (change of mind) policy on contracts (upgrades or otherwise) at T-Mobile. The only 7 day returns are if you buy over the phone or online and that is only because the law stipulates it under distance selling regulations, and doesn't apply to purchases bought in store.
There is however a 14 day streetcheck return.

As stated above 7 days is irrelevant since there is no 7 days return policy. However if you have no coverage you can return in under the StreetCheck guarantee if you don't have coverage where you live or work.
If you bought it in store the sales assistant should have performed a StreetCheck for you and given you a printout which would have explained that if you can't get coverage you can return the phone or not sold it if it was clear you had no coverage. 14 days would be from the day you purchased it, buy on a Saturday and your 14th day is a Friday.
