Root NexBeast ESE53 Keyboard

Is there a reason you can't just extract the system/app file from JRummy's remix and take the keyboard apk from that?

That's what I was hoping to do but I'm not sure where the keyboard app is at, or what it's named. I have searched using Root Explorer and I'm not sure what file it is.

If anyone knows what file it is I will try switching them.

This is the one I'm looking for. The blue ring is from the JRummy ROM, I don't care if it is there or not.

Is there a VoiceSearchwithKeyboard.apk in the /system/app directory of JRummy's remix? If so, it may be a themed version of that keyboard, and that would be the one you want.

EDIT: I downloaded and extracted JRummy's remix. There are two keyboard files that I found: LatinIME.apk and VoiceSearchwithKeyboard.apk. It should be one of those.

Good thing for nandroid backups, I'm going to try both of these one at a time. Hope it works. :p

No go,

I can change almost everything on this phone right down to the font but can't change the keyboard. Oh well time to get back to work. I'll have to try more when I get home tonight.

Thanks for all your help.

Can you tell me how you installed the apk file?

Out of curiosity, I pulled the VoiceSearchWithKeyboard.apk from JRummy's Remix and used Root Explorer to replace the same file in my /system/app, changed the permissions and rebooted -- and, voila, I had the keyboard shown in your screenshot (without the blue border in the text box, which I suspect is from framework or another theming element).

Wow...Blond moment, I forgot to fix the permissions. Thanks, it works now!

Even better I pulled the one from NexBeast because the key's on the one from JRummy's Remix change to blue when pressed.

Again, thanks for all the help, still kicking my self for not checking the permissions...lol
