I recently download avast mobile security just to try it out and then decided to uninstall it. The main program was removed but i still have the Anti theft administrator icon on my homepage which i can not remove. Can anyone help me remove this?. Its really bugging me since i don't need it and its still on my phone. I'm running the newest version of MiUi if that helps. Thanks in advance.

Go to Settings → Location and security → Select device administrators and untick checkbox with the name you gave to your Anti-Theft profile or whatever. Then go to Settings → Applications and uninstall the application. It worked for me.
With ICS, that allowed me to disable the app, but I had to use Titanium to uninstall. It is hidden in /system/app somewhere, or I missed it.

I have this same issue, I can't uninstall Avast anti-theft. I have disabled it as system admin but I still have no option to uninstall in the app manager. Can you go into more detail about the removal process using Titanium?

1. Ensure that Titanium is granted root permissions

2. Locate the anti-virus software/anti-theft software in the "Backup/Restore" tab in Titanium

3. Click on the menu item for said app and select "Uninstall"

4. Wait for Titanium to uninstall it.

5. Profit!

While avast supposedly has the uninstall antitheft option, no effort was made on avast's (no pun intended) part to alert the user to removing the antitheft app before removing avast. So, if you remove avast thinking it would behave normally and uninstall everything it brought to your phone, you are sorely mistaken. I did the same as the OP.

Weeks later I see the antitheft app running on its own, eating battery and who knows what else. I find it unacceptable that I was led to believe the avast package was completely removed. Selecting Manage Apps > All shows a dim uninstall button...SOL there. ES File Explorer Uninstall option sent the interloper app to the bit bucket for my droid.

Hopefully there are no more unwanted residuals from this properly named app.

I found an app running called GigaFibe running, and it has the same size as others complaning about removing Avast. I checked the administrator list and made sure it was disables and dumped it. I rebooted and did not see it again..

That's funny- I had Avast! anti-spyware on my home computer- and after a year, I uninstalled it and switched to a different program- but damn it if I still don't receive pop-up notices saying that my Avast! is in need of an update..... tricky little bastards- I've tried searching for where the file is hidden, no luck yet.

Avast! lets you choose a fake name to make the anti-theft module less visible to a thief. Had you perhaps used that?
