When might the S3 drop in price?

Hi,

I'll be upgrading my phone with the next couple of months. With the release of the Galaxy S4 on the 26th April, how long do you think it will take for the Galaxy S3 to drop in price?

The S3 is a phone that i'm interested in but it's just that little bit too expensive for me right now. So i'm wondering on whether i should hold out just that little bit longer. But if that little bit longer is too far down the road, i'm not sure whether it's worth the wait.

The price for S3s on contract already dropped for AT&T. They're $99 on contract now. ($30 for refurbished ones but those are sold out).
Sprint is offering $100 off the S3 if you port your number and start a new contract.
T-Mobile's is $70 when you first sign up with a plan.

It might take a few months (maybe towards the last quarter of this year) for it to go to $50 on contract.

Edit:
On Amazonwireless, the S3 is $20 for a new contract on verizon or $50 for a renewal.
$10 if youre a new customer for Sprint or $50 if you renew your contract.
And $10 on AT&T if you're an existing or new customer :)

I'm not looking for the most top of the range phone out there, as i can't justify the money. I just want to get the best phone i can for the money that i'm willing to part with. Which if i upgraded now, would be the Galaxy S2, which is now just over 2 years old. As that is currently my ~upper limit to how much i want to spend.

For only $10, you can get a Galaxy S3 on AT&T from Amazonwireless.

S2 is still a great phone mate tbh, thats the phone i wanted when my wife surprised me with an s3 lol. Just dont want u kicking yourself in a couple of months. The s3 is a fair upgrade on the s2 whereas the s4 isnt such a jump from the s3 (imo).
If youre gona root and custom rom your phone then im sure the s2 will be supported in the developer community for a couple of years. Depends what youre gona use the phone for i suppose. The hardware on the s3 is beautiful for watching media, playin games etc

What's the best deal you've found for the S2 that you can afford? If you let us know that we might be able to find a good deal for you on the S3 :)

I think youre making a good choice gettin the s3 even though its nearly a year old. It has a LOT of life left in it

As he said, it'll be dropping a lot on the day S4 is released. As there's mainly software upgrade from S3 to S4 expect S3 to get most of them. Most of them, yes because they also want people to buy S4 otherwise they'd just buy cheap S3 and get all the features S4 has lol

Just a question for people living here in UK on contract.

I am on contract with 3 UK and I bought a white Galaxy S3 in September. Now that 4G LTE is available in my area, I wanted to trade my S3 for a 4G capable S3. I asked T-Mobile and Orange (together = EE) and EE (I didn't tell them I was on contract just that I have S3) and they said if I give my S3 back and pay an additional

@Ghost10bxl - I'm confused with your reply. As i read it, it looks like you're saying the S3 will get the upgrades in one sentence and then the next, it appears like you're saying the S4 will get them. So just to clarify, in your opinion, will the S3 or the S4 have most of the software upgrades?
Also, i'm not sure how i feel at your post attempting to hijack the topic. Maybe copy and paste it in to a new topic?
Three is probably the network/carrier i hear the worst reviews about, so you're doing good getting away from them. Although i have no input to what you're actually asking about.

Sorry for that OP, It was only a quick question so I thought I might ask it? Sorry if you didn't like it.
Basically what I was trying to say is, that an upgrade from S3 to S4 is mainly software so expect most software features (from S4) to come to S3.

Some wouldn't come like someone said it requires hardware, I'd guess S Translator would be one, Hover feature, pictures with sounds etc.

Hopefully that explains that?
