G+ Instant Upload In Gallery?

I am on my 4th Nexus 4 thanks to all the bad units I have received. And on all my past ones, my G+ instant upload private album would always show up in the gallery app. But now, it doesn't show it. It just shows random picasa albums that I have never set up that have some of my older instant upload photos in it. Also, there is an album called "Instant upload" in my gallery app, but there are 0 pictures in it.

When I go to the G+ app, there are over 200 pictures in my instant upload album there.

Does anyone know how to get this functionality back? Having my instant upload folder right in the gallery was very convenient for sharing pictures.

I recently had that change on mine also. A word of advice DO NOT DELETE PICTURES FROM YOUR INSTANT UPLOAD FOLDER EVEN IF THEY ARE IN ANOTHER FOLDER ALSO. IT WILL DELETE THE COPY ALSO!!

I found that out the hard way and lost some really great pictures. I was p***** and still am! They were pictures I had moved into other albums and for some reason they had reappeared in the instant upload folder online the same time that the instant upload folder quit syncing with the gallery.

Probably a silly suggestion, but via the Accounts menu, if you check the sync options for your main Gmail account, is Google Photo Sync turned off?

Nope, everything is turned on. That was the first thing I checked

Ya mine is turned on.

It is just weird that the gallery app used to be so streamlined and simple. It would simply show your local pictures and your instant upload folder with all your pictures you have taken. Now, the instant upload album in the gallery is empty, and in its place I have like 20 randomly generated albums that don't even include pictures taken within the last 3 (!) months. And the pictures taken in the last 3 months were on my past Nexus 4 (because of a replacement) and now I can't MMS those images to people because they aren't stored on this device because they were never shot on this device. The only way to do it is to share the image via G+. But none of my friends use G+.

I know this isn't helpful to your problem, but I prefer dropbox. The dropbox automatic upload keeps the file in its original form, rather than the scaled down version that G+ uploads. Plus there's an option to undelete files.

G+ doesn't have to downscale them, mine always upload full size. You have the option for instant upload to downscale them and then they do not count against your online storage capacity, or they can be uploaded full size.

Ah, I was unaware of that. I was thinking they rescaled to 2048 pixels, but have seen the option for full image upload. I stand corrected

The full size only has a limit of 5gb though. I have a 70gb dropbox account so until this is increased I'll be sticking with dropbox

I have 30GB on Google. I paid for the extra storage a few years ago, so it's only $5 a year.

I also have 50GB on dropbox, and 2 50GB Box accounts all for free, but I never use those at all.

Hopefully with sites like mega offering 50gb of free storage space, other sites will increase their allowance.

I too have a box account, but find dropbox to be the best of the bunch

Ya unfortunately that does not solve my problem. That still just puts the pictures in a separate app which is what I am trying to avoid.

I had this same problem... with the folders with 0 content.. you have to go to the Picassa Web site, select "albums", "all", click on the album with the 0 content, click on the "more" button and select "Delete Album"

I don't have the link in front of me but it should first divert to Google+ photos and then offer a link to divert you to picasa.
You can still get to it directly on mobile via http://picasaweb.google.com.

As for the instant upload album issue:
- the 0 pictures album is not empty. They have started grouping by upload date so if you change the view in gallery to timeline you can see the album is not empty.
- a second instant upload album will appear with a picture count. This is an intermediate fix.
- if you delete the 0 count album it will reappear on your next instant upload.
- there is an active thread on one of the Google support forums about this (no link to hand sorry but should be easily found) with Google staff actively involved.
