Long time reader....first post...blah, blah, blah.

Is anyone planning on using the Verizon Wireless early upgrade program to buy their Droid Incredible? The promotion expires on May 1st and the Incredible should be available on April 29th, giving us two days to take advantage. Just wondering if anyone else out there is going to try to do this. Thanks in advance! :D

I got a notice in the mail (last month?) about getting "up to $50 off any smartphone." It also says :

"Take $50 off ANY smartphone or $25 off ANY other phone. Hurry, offer ends April 30, 2010."

My new every 2 is up in August, and this seems to be targeted at me to "get your new smartphone sooner than expected"

I'd pre-order this bugger, but I wonder how we can use this $50 off?? Are we flagged in the system?? Will the online pre-order page prompt us for a code? I'd go to a store to buy it, but I HAVE to be at work at 9 AM that day. Any other day this month I could have taken off. So I don't want to show up after work and it be sold out.

Maybe they'll give me a raincheck or something?

**EDIT**

ok while the forums were offline (Was it just me??) I gave the number on the mailer a call for some real info. The $50 off is from the marketing department, and this specific deal can only be used through them. You can not go to a store and use it, or use it online. I'd have to call back on April 29th, order it, have the $50 taken off ($150 after the $100 mail in rebate) and they will fed ex it out. And it would arrive at my house on Monday, and someone would need to sign for it.

So I guess I can wait another 4 days if I can get another $50 off then. I just don't want to be able to not get through, or if there is a limited supply, get screwed over.

Preorder on the 19th or order on the 29th and get it the following Monday? Hmmmm....

I'll share my story with you guys from today...... I went ahead and called Verizon to see if I could bump up my new every 2 date which is May 10th. The lady I spoke with asked what phone I wanted to upgrade to and I told her the Incredible and she said hmm I haven't heard of that let me google it quick. After about a minute she said wow I gotta write this down this phone looks awesome, which I found quite humorous and we both laughed. And she said sorry could you hold on a second I have to write this stuff down lol . But long story short she hooked me up with the new every 2 now so i'm all ready for my preorder!!!! =)

I called today as well to find out if I qualify for their current early smartphone upgrade promotion (I am not entitled to the NE2 until 3/11, but should qualify for this promotion). She let me know that they base the promotion on the billing zip code (I live right over the border in NJ, so technically not upstate NY). Easy enough, I went online and changed my billing address to my parent's house (who conveniently live across the border in upstate NY). When I walk into the Verizon Wireless store on the 29th, my billing address will be in upstate NY and I will hopefully walk out with my incredible. Fingers crossed!

I'm in a similar situation as Blaven, but my NE2 date is at the end of July. I called up verizon today, and the CSR hadn't even heard about the incredible yet. He said the only offer available to me was the early upgrade to the pre/pixi plus. I think I'll try calling back again on Monday when the preorders should be in the system.

Try submitting your questions through the website. I did earlier today and they moved my NE2 date up 10 days so that I could preorder the phone.

End of July might be a tad to long for them to move it up. When I talked to the lady the first thing I said was that my phone was acting up and that I was due for a NE2 in 4 weeks and that I planned on staying with Verizon and moving up to a data plan which is an extra $30 a month if she was able to move it up so i could be eligible now. Seemed to work for me :)

I was working with VZW about 4 months ago and I can tell you that if your NE2 is more than 30 days away NO CS Rep will be able to really help you out. It was common before to have your NE2 advanced 2-3 before the actual day but recently the Executives cracked down and stopped allowing that. Managers use to have the ability to modify the system to allow you but now any time they do that it gets routed to a Unit Manager which will make sure it is only within 30 days of your NE2. Sometimes they might still not allow it. They do take into consideration your payment history with them and other factors.

I've got info...

Have the Blackberry Tour on Verizon - regular upgrade is 3/2011, "early" upgrade is 11/2011 according to Verizon rep today. She would not change this, even after veiled threats to head to AT&T for their iPhone.

Today, I call and get a call on the phone - tell her I'm having trackball problems again with my Tour (had the phone exchanged for this reason last fall) and want to upgrade to the new Incredible. Wife also has pixelation on her Curve and wants an Incredible. However, being longtime Verizon customers, we shouldn't have to pay full price. She took our order info and said she'll call me on April 29th to place an upgrade order for $299 - $100 rebate on both phones and keep my upgrade date as 3/2011 due to faulty Blackberries.

So, I suggest you call someone on the 29th and tell them your current phone is acting up, you hate it, it's awful, etc., and you want to upgrade early to the Incredible.

@TheDude73 Even by saying that you are having trackball issues you are not going to get an upgrade to an Incredible, i worked for VZW so i know. The only way VZW allows you to upgrade to a new device before your actual upgrade day is if you have had you phone replaced 3 times in the past 90 days. At this point they process what they call a MULTI-FRU EXCHANGE. But before you decide to try to have your Tour replaced a few more times, don't think you will then after be able to upgrade to an Incredible. Once they verify your phone has been replaced 3 times in the past 90 days they look at an EXCEL sheet that has been created by some executives that tells you what device the Tour is comparable to and let you upgrade. This is were you won't be happy TheDude73, the list never shows new device, like the Incredible, as a comparable device to upgrade to so you won't get it. It is either going to be a brand new Tour, Storm 2 or if things changed in the past 2 months you might just be lucky to get the Moto Droid which i really doubt because it's still a hot seller.

What really happened today was you got the run-around. I personally hated when my co-workers did this because it just makes for an angry phone call that someone else will have to deal with it later. They should have just been very honest like the first rep and told you that you cannot upgrade to an Incredible until November. Sorry to be the one to break the news to you but its better for you to know now that expect to be able to upgrade to an Incredible on the 29th.

Multi-FRU policy has been drastically changed. Due to people gaming the system and misusing it, you will now keep getting the same model phone until that model is no longer available. Only at that point, can you get a different model phone.

Another option is to take the FRU (or CLNR) phone, purchase one of the new CPO phones and sell the FRU (after activation of course) on eBay or such to help defray the cost of the CPO.

okay so im confused. ive been eligible for my early upgrade for a while now. will this go away on april 30th??
If you are referring to what I've posted above, the offer that was given to me is not directly linked to NE2. The marketing department sent me an offer in March, offering me an EARLY upgrade discount. It was not sent out to many people. I'm not available for NE2 until late August. If I upgrade to a smartphone now until April 30th, I'd get $50 off.

If you are eligible for New Every 2 (NE2) now, that will not go away on April 30th.

I used my NE2 to get my wife an Incredible. I don't think she's had it even two weeks. Today I get in the mail what seems to be one of these Marketing Dept mailers except it says I can go into the store.

It's an additional $50 off the INC and I could also upgrade two other lines (One due on Nov. one due NEXT YEAR for upgrade) at promo pricing.

A) Since I just got my INC do you think VZW will credit me the additional $50?

B) I was so envious of her INC I got an Eris pretty cheap on Craigslist. I like it but should I pay $199 for an INC or wait until November to see if there is something better?

Offer ends June 30. It says it's a "Private Sale Discount" but I can have upgraded within 180 days.
