I've heard that this should be coming to Verizon before Thanksgiving? Is there anything to support this?

My contract is currently up and I'm wanting to get an Android phone (and this one looked cool) but I don't want to wait too long if it isn't going to be available reasonably soon.

Also, are there ant charts comparing all the different phones coming out soon?

A friend is very excited about a Verizon option, and the sholes sounds like a winner for him. He once again was interested and thinking about ditching his Blackberry last night.

Do Verizon data plans mimic Tmobile's? Unlimited, flat rate?

As a Alltel customer (on VZW network essentially for the past few months), I can vouch for VZW coverage being nothing less than spectacular. The price difference isn't too much, maybe $30 more than TMobile but there is a reason for that.

I had the MT3G from TMo for a week and I sent it back. Their coverage is dismal at best. VZW has an awful phone selection right now but in the next few months it will change for the better hopefully. That includes the Sholes!

Honestly $30 more than Tmobile for data a month? That can't be right. My Tmobile data plan is only 24.99 with the G1 an increase over my old Sidekick plan of 19.99. Paying $55 a month is a huge increase, more than 100%. I'm sure I am mis-understanding what you said by "$30 more than Tmobile."

30*12=$360/year more.

Yeah that's definitely a mistake, I must habe misread your question. I thought we were talking overall bill. No, the required data plan is $20 or so I think. Its not that big a difference I know for data+texting. I meant the final bill! :)

So then VZW's data plan is actually $5 - $15 less than Tmobile's plus their great coverage? If the rumors are true and they get 1 Moto and 3 HTC phones I might consider them.

Anyone disappointed that Motorola (NYSE: MOT) only announced one Android handset last week and not two need not fret for too long. Motorola will announce its second Android-based device within a few weeks, and you'd better believe that Verizon Wireless will be the one to sell it.

Here we go again. Motodev summit tomorrow. I hope this is the one for the Sholes/Tao/droid phone.

MOTODEV > Events & Training > MOTODEV Summit

The timing is right based on Bill's post, and he seems to be right 100% of the time. I cannot wait!!!!!

I hope so too, I thought Android was cutting edge graphically...as in the UI. From what I saw on the pics of the phone in use, it looked no better than a pc running windows 3.1....YUCK!

If you are talking about the pic of the Verizon CEO showing the phone, he is covering the UI with the apps list screen. I assume that was done to hide the UI until it is released, just like there are no leaks showing the qwerty either. In any case, there's always the home apps that can be used to customize it.
