This would make it easier for users to switch from an iPhone to an HTC One, especially in the case of text messages, which cannot be easily copied out of a phone. Yes, htc have a lot to do in order to get its magic back. The htc one is a good chance for htc.

I have actually swapped from an iPhone 5 to an HTC One and the sync from iPhone backup was pretty easy once I could get the crappy HTC Sync Manager program to stop crashing on me. I have got all my text messages, calendar appointments, pictures and contacts straight from my iPhone. A great feature that needs a better front end to make it even more effortless.

While it does not get very specific on the process of making an iPhone backup or Sync Manager versions and installation tips (which as we can see in this thread Sync Manager installation is not always a simple process) it does show the simple process and can give a glimpse of how it works before going through it.

Theirs an app in cydia called AppInfo. it has a feature to export via email a list of all your cydia tweaks/apps/repositories - apple apps - and music. pretty useful for setting up a new phone. I also found a few apps posted on another forum, iSyncr 4 and MyPhoneExplorer were both highly recommended replacements for the buggie HTC Sync manager.

Thanks. I'm moving from the iPhone 4S to the HTC One. I installed the HTC Sync Manager and it tried to import my 200 plus gigs of music and 800 gigs of other media. it crashed and reloaded about 20 times in the first hour before i could figure out how to stop it from auto importing everything. I immediately went searching for an alternate. My One won't be here for another week (AT&T 32gig) so I'm still reading alot and getting everything in order for the big move.

Theirs a lot to learn coming from an iPhone. I'm not totally new to android, I have the HP Touchpad that duel boots cynogenmod and Webos and have flashed a few nightlys and done some rooting of the Samsung Epic and Evo's back in the day.

Honestly? The only thing that I've ever really enjoyed about HTC Sync is the drivers.

Check out Dropbox or the like for cloud-based syncing, or AirDroid for simple copy / paste to your phone via wifi. Good stuff.

speaking of dropbox.. I see that HTC Offers a 25gig account free for 2 years
how does this work if you have an existing account with just the normal free 2gigs (I currently have3.6gigs)? Will Dropbox just add the extra storage ? or will I have to start a new account to get the full 25 gigs? and yeah, I've been using Airdroid for a while on the touchpad it's pretty sweet but it does have its limits.

I think that they add it.

Same question came up last year, others had Dropbox already, I was new to it. If marctronixx or someone knows off the top of their head, great, otherwise I'll look up the answer thread on that later when I'm at my pc.

Welcome to the forums!

HTC Sync Manager is supposed to be Mac compatible with Intel based Mac systems, using MacOS 10.6 or higher. In the recent months/year HTC has put some concerted effort forth in becoming more compatible with Macs. Still not perfect from what I've read, but they are actively trying to become better.

Check out the link I provided in Post #8 (scroll up a ways, it is just a few posts above this one) it will serve you with a download link and further specification on PC and Mac requirements.

EarlyMon (see above for some of his posts), one of our great Moderators here on the forum, has an option of a Mac setup in his habitat I believe. He may be able to provide you with some great insight if you run into any Mac compatibility issues.

Why would you need Office? I think HTC Sync Manager works without it.

Those are separate. I think what it is saying is if you want to Sync your phone with Office then it has to be 2011. If you look at the Windows requirements they have several versions of Office listed. It is probably only for particular syncing like emails, documents, or calendar. If you go to the Sync Manager webpage it will sync media based on iTunes and move over all of your iPhone info (if you have an iPhone).

There are no strange drivers, the Mac Office for OS X has always included an Outlook hookup, that's all. (It's always been that way so far.)

OS X is a unix, so no drivers are used.

Yeah, I have a bad habit of mixing terminologies and my brain fails to think past simplest terminologies most of the time. You know what I mean though. Lets mix in some more terminologies. Instead of driver I could go with Shared Object, Dynamic Library, Framework, Extension, Stream, etc.

Your best bet is to just facepalm and walk away
