I have brought up this question before but no one seems to have an answer to what type of HDMI port... here are some pictures I looked at to compare...

First pic is a Canon 50D (confirmed) mini-HDMI... second pic is a mini-HDMI cable connector...last is another head-on shot of the EVO micro-USB (left) and ????-HDMI (right) ports.

Don't think there's too much to much to celebrate today. Maybe there will be, but earlier this week Jackson and Self Praise both said that the big media blitz probably probably wouldn't happen today after all. It seems like they're still trying to work out some problems. I definitely think it's best to have everything perfect than it is to release a phone like this that has problems. That wouldn't be good.

Jackson said yesterday, he knew "for a fact that the EVO won't be released until June 13th". That's isn't that far away and it's late spring, not summer, so that is cause for celebration.

No doubt we'll be hearing more about the EVO 4G real soon. Stay tuned.

He figured out it's a new connector, Micro-HDMI, or Type D HDMI. Honestly, I've seen the "mini-hdmi" connectors, and they're still quite big. Thinner, yes, but still very wide. With all the technology these days you would have thought they would have gone straight to this connector first, as it seems like the perfect size.

I hear what your saying, they did the same thing with USB when it came out.

How about this for a 15 second ad spot. Start airing around the 28th or 29th.

Line outside a Big Red Store.

A Dude (Dan maybe) or hot chick in Neon Yellow and Black (yeah) walks by with the piece de resistance.

The line follows the EVO!!!

Or - the same deal - but with the Verizon dude with the glasses and the crowd. And they follow the EVO. Just trying to kill time.

Sprint with a Kool LOOKING phone!??? I must be dreaming or something. haha

You didn't think the Touch Pro, Diamond, TP2, etc were call cool looking phones? I still get people saying "damn, whats that" when they see my OG, Day 1, chipped "chrome" touch pro; and I'm not even running the touch flo interface (windows mobile gets a bad wrap). I'd jump on a TP2, but its just not enough of an upgrade from my OG TP (though I think about it everytime I see my sisters Verizon TP2).

I mean...if you really put aside the specs/os/age/etc and look at phone aesthetics; all the recent WinMo phones, even the mogul, on sprint look pretty kick ass in my opinion. Ok...maybe not the mogul. I'm not much of a fan of the looks of the pre and hero..

If I could have a phone w/ the form factor/size of the TP2 - but the processor, 4g ability (I'm in Texas, y'all), and HDMI out (...and some sort of kick stand would be nice) of the EVO, I'd take it instead of the Evo personally. I could care less of the OS - I'm techy enough to learn to make anything work...

...but they don't...so I'll "settle" for the evo.

As I was watching TV last night I saw several adds for Sprint 4G. No mention of the EVO though. Have these ads been showing for awhile? I don't watch that much live TV, so I usually fast forward through the commercials.

As for the size. It will take some getting used to. Like many, I went to a T-Mobile store last week to hold the HD2. It didn't fit comfortably in my hand, combination of the size and that it's pretty square, not alot of rounding to the edges. However, even after a few minutes I was getting used to the extra size so I know I'd have no problems after a day or two, and that screen was absolutely gorgeous. I'll take the 4.3" screen over the Incredible's 3.7" AMOLED everytime (although for full disclosure I'm still leaning Incredible solely because after a survey of my neighbors, most with Sprint don't get service in their houses :().

Yeah, I got a TP too. Had the Mogul too. Sprint has been slowly making the grade I guess. But for me, the EVO is the first one I drool for. I can't stand WinMo anymore. Gonna jump ship for now and we'll see what happens down the road with the c40 and WinPhone 7. Untill then Ima gonna get me some Evo! woohoo!

I'm in the same boat as you and still using a Mogul. I wanted the TP and TP2 but was disappointed with the specs. I really don't like WinMo 6.5 and the 6.5.5 that will be rolling out. The EVO, and HD2, really grab out with the specs and the android sys doesn't hurt either.

The comparison tool that showed up here a couple of days ago now includes the Incredible. I thought it was enlightening to see the EVO, Incredible, N1 and iPhone together. The overall sizes aren't that different from phone-to-phone, but the screen size of the EVO is huge in comparison.

The one thing that attracted me to the EVO in the first place was the big screen. That's because I have the HTC Hero and it's too small to be comfortable for viewing web pages and forget about navigation.

When I used the comparison tool, I can see the width of the Incredible is about the same as my Hero and that's great for pocketing the phone, but I want to be able to use the browser comfortably. I also like the idea that the EVO would be dynamite when used for navigation, watching videos (especially with the kick stand), and gaming. I know I'm going to appreciate the bigger screen.

The comparison tool can be found in the first post in the Reviews section: HTC EVO 4G Size Compare Visualization.
