Okay so my roommate here at school
has been freaking out for the past 2 weeks.

Like she always asking us to call her phone and what not or text it and today
she was telling us about her bill
which is 1750 or something...

Well...she had took my advice about having 3 replacement devices sent out to you over the course of a 90 day period and verizon will allow you out of the phone and into another...

except when she got the three erises...the dumbass didn't send them back.
Her last bill was 600 dollars and this current bill is like 1730 or something

Her line is with my other roommate and my neighbor across the hall

Do you guys know if they will terminate her line or theirs as well?
Because while the account is not in her name(it's in our other roommates)
they have only been calling her and not the account holder.

I'm thinking of paying it for her because these are my friends(and i can't stand ppl like her that put other people's peace of mind in jeopardy)

but yeah will they terminate her account or all 3??

I'm 99% sure they will terminate the entire account. What may be helpful is the account holder calling Verizon and explaining the situation, and getting them to agree to reverse or discount the charges on receipt of the other phones. She is going to absolutely need to send the phones back.

+1

Have the actual account holder call VZW and talk to them about it. They may still get a pretty big fine, but they can probably get the bill discounted somewhat.

wow.. Did she seriously think she could keep all of the phones?

Although I agree with you, about disliking people who mess with other people's peace of mind, you must remember, YOU are the one who gave the idiot the advice in the first place lol.. regardless of whether or not you realized at the time that she wouldn't be able to think enough to send back the old "broken" phones lol..

The first thing i'd do is have your friends each get their own account with verizon or whoever they want a cell phone with. You don't even need decent credit to get an account with them these days. It'll help them build their own credit and at the same time they won't be at the mercy of someone else's stupidity. Then have them cancel their lines with verizon and just let that girl deal with her own mistakes. Tell her to call verizon and explain the situation or tell them she wasn't told she had to return the other phones but still has them and will return them immediately. She might have to speak to a supervisor or someone higher up to get results but when dealing with that much money she needs to learn how to get things done and not rely on others to solve her problems for her. If shes hot then send her my way, she needs a guy like me to take care of her, but only if shes hot ;)

This will end badly. Do not help out with that kind of money. Get the phones returned then see where you stand.

Don't send the phones back just yet, get confirmation from them before doing so. Also take down the names and badge id#'s. Keep your communication with them documented. But you need some leverage going in otherwise they can tell you to take a hike and do whatever they want. My advice is to see where you stand and then take action, negotiate the best you can and if you don't get the desired results speak to their supervisor. Keep on going up until you get the answers you seek and then send the phones back. The end result should be they have their phones back and the fines by not sending them back will be taken off completely, not partially, but completely. Rinse and repeat.

Funny, bailing out a friend is alright. Yet, bailing out a bank is unholy. So I guess the obvious answer is, its alright to bail our YOUR friends but it's not alright to bail out SOMEONE elses friend.

Seems to me everyone should bail themselves out. Unless of course, they are your friends.

Anways, do what ever you think is right. Be careful though, you might be called a socialist for helping out your fellow man.

If you "loan" them the money, you'll end up on Judge Judy...stay out of it and let them figure it out. It is her fault for not sending the phones in. The directions are VERY clear when they send you a new phone about how to send the old one back. I'd say it is their fault/problem, not yours!
If you were to loan her the money, get it in writing that she will agree pay you back..

I am still trying to figure out why Verizon continued to send her more phones when the first ones were not returned.

What was the point of your ridiculous attempt to make any of this political? Your comments serve no purpose in this thread.

Are you lost?

It takes a good month or two for the charges to post to your bill. I know because I had this happen when FedEx lost a Blackberry Storm that I sent back. She had probably already ordered all of the phones before a single charge even posted.

call up, tell them that each time they sent a new eris you didn't get an RMA to send it back (RMA is a preprinted & addressed sticker from whatever carrier they use like fedex or ups) you say that you figured someone would get in touch with you sooner or later but no one did (this is really razor thin here cause most people would have called after that $700 bill) I don't know how long she has had them, but since they were sent to replace malfunctioning phones they will assume they have been used. Even if the seal is still intact they'll still regard them as used. They'll adjust her bill but she's gonna have to pay something, maybe a restocking fee, who knows. But afterward they aren't under any obligation to terminate her contract, so if she stays then she's stuck with the eris, if she goes, then there is an early termination fee.

if she wants into another phone she has to do a little social engineering because after this they are gonna smell bullshit a mile away. Lets say it's the motorola droid, if she's a girl wait till she gets a guy on the phone, be real nice, maybe a little flirty, but work the program till they'll make a 1 time exception and let her into the motorola for the same price if she were a new customer.

if it works she'll have to pay for the restocking fees and the new phone and because of that higher cost, she can ask them to spread that cost evenly over a 12 month period of her bill

Judge Judy might be a good idea actually. Even if she doesnt have the money to pay it back. If she doesnt pay take her there and all of it will get taken care of, all expenses paid, just a little embarassment for being on a court tv show.

It's not that I'm worried about getting the money back.
She has a habit of doing things like this alot.

We'll go dinner at chili's yet somehow she left her wallet...3 xs this has happened
we told her we weren't bailing her out the next time

We go to King's DOmion(i think that's what's it called) and she doesn't have any money. Of course we can't expect her to sit around for like 12 hours while we are all having fun so we all paid a portion for her to get in to the park and then she went crazy and wanted a bunch of food that she didn't eat

like i said. This is a good girl to go club and party with.
I just tolerate her. I hate immaturity and I hate people who use other people.

My roommate is on the verge of tears because her phone is also a work phone and it keeps her in contact with family

it's just ashame.

I cussed her out earlier and told her from now on when we go places she is paying me gas. I don't care if it's to the store down the street or if i'm going to the destination myself.

Friends ride free...

Moochers have to pay.
