YouTube is becoming unbearable

Not sure if this is in the correct section, but anyways...

Has YouTube become ridiculously slow for you guys? I can hardly watch a 4 minute long video in 360p.
My internet speed is 11Mbps down/2Mbps up.
I tried this "trick" and it worked for a while but not anymore.

Any help/advice? It's quite annoying :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Edit: I just tried loading YouTube on my phone using 4G and it loaded up faster than on my desktop with my internet. Now I feel like it's because of an error on my end...

I have noticed it, too, when watching trailers and such. I just pause it, let it stream, and come back. What's obnoxious is the Youtube app. It stopps buffering if you go to another app or sleep the phone/tab while you wait.

Actually, YT lets you view many interesting things like music you forgot you knew existed (or never knew anything about), old TV commercials and programs, free movies, some great performances by people like Yngwie Malmsteen and Ron Block and people you never knew about (not to mention, very early performances by people like Jose Felliciano and Peggy Lee and countless others) and many other interesting things you sometimes wish you could see again. Or see for the first time, for that matter.

It is like a growing library of rare things all gathered together in one handy, searchable web site occasionally interupted by idiots that only think their homemade videos have value.

YT is not a total waste. Much of what is on YT is perhaps a waste, but like mineral deposits, you must remove the overburden to get to the platinum and beryl crystals.

YT is easy to hate yet it is easy to ignore when you tire of the cute kittens playing with balls of string or lasers or videos about the Illuminati's plot to overthrow the government using tickle bombs and Alex Jones.

BTW: I live for the next batch of cute kitty videos so there!!!

I have witnessed YT hang, slow, stutter and stop while accessing it from the fastest possible Internet connection in Utah; on state of the art systems, yet, I have watched the same videos play flawlessly on my crappy laptop and I have had mixed results watching videos on my phones.

One day great and the next day, I might as well wait for the book to arrive.

I blame the recent artifically triggered supernova explosions in the Vidalia nebula. Aliens are clearing the way for a new Lord WallMart Super Center.

today I am at the library and every video plays well. Yesterday, it was very slow and some videos would partially load and hang.

It does differ day to day, Maxey, but I view the app's inability to stream while the screen is off or you're in another app a massive shortcoming.

YT here was doing the same thing yesterday, it lasted an hour or so for me. Maybe its around their high traffic times that the suffer from slower speeds.. though I'd like to think that a site like them would have a system in place that can handle many people viewing whatever whenever..

I think it depends on how many people are on at the time you're trying to watch something.

You can search by music genre, station, news, podcast, etc. As for searching for obscure listings you'll have to check it out to see if you can find what you need.

The speed at which YouTube buffers can depend on which videos you're watching and where you are located. All of YT's videos cannot be stored in every region at one time. Many of the highly watched videos are, but some of the smaller, lesser known videos may be kept in only one or two locations due to the people that have viewed them in the past.

If you'll notice, if you watch a video that loads really slowly one day, and then come back to it the next (or sometime in the near future), it will load faster due to the video being moved closer to you.. just make sure you clear your cache if you are wanting to validate this!

My problem with youtube on a PC is that commercials off to the side start running on their own while I'm watching a clip. I'll start hearing the commercial dialogue then have to scroll away from my clip to turn it off. Anybody else experiencing this?

I dont have that problem but i use adblock+ so maybe thats why.


And yes sometimes videos take forever to load even though my connection is pretty fast.

I've also noticed that bigger YouTube channels seem to get priority on the bandwidth. I can watch videos from the large channels all day on highest quality, and I'll never get a buffering problem and the video will always start immediately. Then I'll find some obscure video that barely gets any views and it'll have to buffer on 240p.

Download PVStar app. UI is kinda sloppy, the menus need better translation, but it plays better than YouTube LOL. Oh, it will also play those videos that say "not for mobile" if you're like me and look for old stuff
