Hi Guys!

I have a problem with my Ace. Cant connect it to my PC (Windows Vista) through USB cable. Its only charge my phone, but cant see it (nothing says on my mobile screen that phone is connected). I did so many thing im getting a little bit fed up now... :(

- Ive installed (re-installed) Kies on my PC. Kies cant see my phone
- on/off debugging USB
- format SD card
- factory data reset

Any more ideas?

PLEASE HELP!!!

After installing KIES the drivers should have installed automatically. You can then install ‘MyPhoneExplorer’ found here FJ Software Development . this s/w should everything KIES would do except update your firmware.

BTW Vista is a bitch & so is KIES :(

To reinstall the drivers. You can check here (usually) C:\Progam Files\Samsung\KIES\USB Driver. You should find the exe file here, run to install the drivers again.

You tried to connect your phone with a tablet? :stupid:
you can't do that...
I meant try another PC or laptop

Yes, Ive tried to connect it to tablet, sorry I dont have 5 laptops at home... Phone is just external device like usb pen drive (correct me if Im wrong:) ) I should get at least sd card reading...

I will try to do it somewhere else.

Its a phone, not a pen drive!
However it can be used as a pen drive because it has a sd card which is a memory storage device, but that does not mean you can connect your phone to a tablet by just connecting them via a wire :p:p
You need drivers in the tablet which can recognize and manage the phone as a memory device.

I never asked you to get 5 laptops, i just suggested you to try a different PC, i said that because it does matter, i use windows xp sp2, my phone never connects to it, however it easily connects to my friend's pc having the same configuration and windows. You are dealing with "Samsung Kies" here, you can't even imagine what a menace this thing is.
I gave up on this long back, now i use a card reader or bluetooth to transfer files from my sd card to my computer.

Tuba84,
Reason why I mentioned it, is that I didn't see any comments about that. It doesn't solve the "Kies"problem, but after connecting USB and pulling the notification bar down, you can use USB as mass storage and read your SD-card that way - and of course transfer files. Make sure to end the USB-connection safely after that, just like you would safely remove any USB-device from your PC.

never had a problem before but I've just updated Keis when prompted and now I have the same problem as the OP ie I get a beep on both pc and phone when I connect the USB cable but no visual recognition of the connection on either device. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling keis and restarting pc and phone but problem remains. Any solution?

Hi, It seems that you have a driver problem. We have to separate things, the connection to the PC and the recognition by Kies. Without the former can not have the second, but the opposite is not true.
Try this link (is xda)(dont forget http://)dreamtimeshop.com/android/Samsung-USB-Drivers.zip
Hope I helped

I first came here looking for the answer to this problem but then found the answer for myself whilst still searching, so I registered to share this with you.
When you work it out, it is so easy you could kick yourself (well I could anyway) When you plug the USB cable into the phone, pull down the bar from the top of the screen, - the one where you connect to Wi-Fi or bluetooth - and it will say" USB connected, select to copy files to your computer" touch it and it will take you to the right screen and there is a touch panel "connect storage to PC" touch that then touch yes on the next screen and you then get an autoplay dialogue box on your laptop. From that choose which option you want. If you want to transfer photographs, remember that they are in the DCIM folder.
Hope this helps.

Everybody knows that dude :p
The problem is that when they connect the usb there is no connection notification on the status bar, the phone starts charging but it never shows any signs of connecting to the pc.
In my case the pc recognised the phone and i was able to connect using the pull down notification but i could never maintain the connection for more than 5 seconds, it kept disconnecting.

This is the solution. :)

While the phone is plugged into your PC via USB Cable, turn the phone off, then turn it back on. When it turns on it will be detected by your computer and will enable the USB notification. This problem seems to occur when you have factory reset your phone or have never connected it to the computer before. The same problem can occur when you reset the phone and try to plug it into a charger, you simply turn it off and on again for it to recognise the device.

Hope this helps.

I am having the same problem with my new Galaxy Ace, I have tried all of the above, it sometimes connect and disconnects before I can backup my contacts etc
Samsung support told me to turn off the wireless and Bluetooth but it still does not work, so they told me to send the phone for checking under warranty, but I think it is the Kies that is buggy
