[Verizon] [ROM] AOKP JB-MR1 Milestone 2 [4.2.2] (07.21.13) TORO

on one rom i can re download apps in like 20 mins on aokp it takes like 120 mins
Have you tried using Titanium Backup to back up your apps? You restore all user apps (with the Pro Key paid for, like 6 bucks) with a couple clicks. I have too many apps to always download for each clean flash. Very rarely do I redownload.

^ This!
I do it mostly because I hate having to relogin in several apps (Twitter, Rhapsody) since it saves the data from the app. If you rely on the Play Store to restore, you're stuck with starting all over again. TiBu is worth the few bucks it costs! :)

Hi Folks, I have been underground for quite a while. Looks like the fun is still on strong here.

I need a jump start to get back on track and flash to this new ROM.

You guys know I can flash but I am also cautious of taking things for granted so just in case - - things are different now - - if a kind soul will provide the sequence I need to follow?

I am coming from AOKP MR1 4.1.2 on my Toro JZO54K. Yes the tried and true but rock solid antique.

I have backed up my current ROM & SDcard to On and Off of the device.
I run the latest Samsung Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit now in V11.0.0.
I run the latest Rom Manager v5.5.2.3 Premium and recovery 6.0.3.1 Touch.

I am prepared to do a clean install and would like the preferred sequence of events to load it and any other suggestions.

Thanks!

Never mind. Either I have no friends left here or Saturdays is not for Forum replies eh?

I flashed and everything works. Tethering, GPS, MMS, all of it. Butter!

Hey gapi,

I saw this post earlier today but today was a day full of chores, family and food. First time I've sat down all day other than dinner.

While I could have posted earlier, I'm not sure I would have had the time to write a quality post.

That being said, I can say that Saturdays and Sundays tend to be slower days on the forums; so you may not get that immediate response. Anyway, all I'm saying, if anything, is sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. However, I am delighted to know that you handled it all with what sounds like relative ease. :D

Your recovery was up to date, your data was backed up twice and you flashed cleanly. Sounds to me like a person who know what they're doing! Glad you are all squared away.

You can always come here for help my friend. Good to have you back around these parts.

Your local forum AOKP Fanboy,

jmar

WoW, What a confusing mess both of those are, Heh, I have been away too long.

It seems its not like it used to be and just move them into the apps folder or a quick flash. Now you have to do an Aroma thing.

Mercy. Thanks.
You're welcome. I'm sure that this is not the only solution for inverted GApps, just one I found. It was the number one link after doing a Google search.

If I find more I'll post it.

The dev of elemental x/eclipse also makes his own inverted gapps, as well as the whole rom being inverted. The customizations has really improved and I run that on my Gnex and aokp on my Nexus 4 since he doesn't dev for that device.

Thanks, Just so I am clear, are you running another ROM's inverted gapps on a current AOKP ROM?

I ask because I have tried several since my last post and they are all disappointments.

If they don't invert all of what I want they put bugs into the apps. Like making my Gmail fail to play video attachments, and Text messaging failing to load picture files attached from senders to be displaayed and getting force closings.

None of the Googled up inverted apps work with out flaws.

I guess I 'm stuck for now until an AOKP dev makes some up or they come up with a Theme. Its early yet for the current Milestone 1 4.2.2.

I haven't been around in awhile either but checked in tonight and saw the question about inverted gapps. I know the feeling about them. I don't just like them, I NEED them! I finally gave up trying to scrabble them all from everywhere and just went to the play store and purchased them all in one neat package. They were not expensive and I got exactly what I wanted and they are kept updated as AOKP updates. That is a nice benefit. Check out Black Infinitum by Razer(x) or the Betterbean themes for a slight bit of color in the mix. They can give you some idea of what is there anyway. These are the type of themes that can be installed using the theme picker that comes with AOKP.

Loving milestone so far, just flashed it last night.

I do have one problem... Google Voice Search is not working. Now I may have accidentally restored the old one with Titanium Backup after flashing the rom... is this something that would be included in the gapps from the AOKP website, and if so would flashing gapps again (without doing anything else) possibly fix the problem?

Working fine for me. Lving the butter also.

I am the same way. I find the white or non-inverted harsh. As a PI and conduction surveillance in dark places the harshness is no fun.

The Black Infinitum Dark is fantastic!

Yeah, wipe cache and dalvik cache first then flash GApps.
