glad to see they kept the drop-in charging contacts. I doubt you can have both the extended battery (2920ah!) and wireless charging. That is twice the current of the C771 battery. I hate charging plugs. Drop-in and extended sound like a good combo for my use. Wish they could do the extended coover with wireless charging!

Funny that the pics show and describe an atmospheric pressure sensor, but the manual does not mention it.

Looked through the manual and it does not show the phone as having 4G service. Can that be?

Looking at the icon list in the manual it only shows 3G. Can't be! Must have 4G or its a no-go for me!
Why leave it out?

It shows a picture of the back of the phone....and the "4G-LTE" logo.

Niether Verizon nor Casio are stupid enough to introduce this as a 3G device.

I agree and after zooming in see the 4G logo.

However, if you look at page 30, it shows all the icons used on the phone and there is not a 4G icon listed. 3G is top on the list. Maybe not the final printing?

I think you are correct on the final printing too.......someone missed that in the current manual. Verizon really wants to move users to LTE.

it looks like a lot of the same parts form the commando. great cause i have spare parts from other old casio phone sacrifices!

Just so happens that I went into a Verizon company store and asked a manager if they knew of the new Casio phone. His reply was that its coming soon, but they have not received any training or info on the new unit yet. He also stated that when the phone is released, they are given one DAY of training which takes place about a week before the release. He has received nothing. . . . yet.
He also said that the 6/6/13 date is not going to happen since they tend to get the stands, placards, accessories, etc, prior to the release date.
He thinks mid July.
This was the first Verizon person I've talked to that actually knows about the phone. I'm not due for an upgrade til August, so I have a little time.

I hope the casio is worth it....for those who are waiting.

I just replaced mine with a Galaxy S4 and put it in an Otterbox Defender case.

This device is blindingly fast and powerful. "Blindingly" is an understatement at best.
It consistently scores 25000 on Antutu and in the 12000's on Quadrant.......only 10 to 12 times the scores of the average casio. Lol
In actual use.......it really seems 10 times as fast as the casio. The speed is jawdropping.
GPS lock is faster than any device i have ever seen. It has barometer, thermometer, and humidity sensors built in. Wifi is excellent. Screen is beyond amazing with full hd resolution. Touch screen has a glove mode for winter use. Exchange support works flawlessly......and the new calendar app includes support for tasks.

I am quite pleased with all the features and have no regrets.

That would be a very useful feature even here in summer, when I ride my motorcycle or long driving trips where I use my driving gloves.

I like the idea of the S4 active. An otterbox is not the answer for me. To bulky/nasty looking.

Based on my experience with the Commando, Casio is one of the best with support on their phones. I've never had an issue with a software update. Just my commando suffered from a lack of ram and room for apps. I still have one for a backup.

Let's see:
4G... that's nice, but hardly a selling feature.
Better camera. But 8Mp is somewhat quaint compared to some of the phones with 10+ out there. At least this time we get a front camera... I've taken so many blind selfies...
The display is a big disappointment. It's the same resolution as the current Commando.
Android is only updated to ICS? Really? This phone has been out in Japan for a year already, and they haven't managed to get aboard the Jelly Bean express?
1.5 dual-core... a bit lacking in the world of 2.0G quad-cores. Still, a nice jump up from the dumpy 800Mhz we currently have.
1GB of ram. Again, not horrible, but it would have been nice to get a bit more now that other phones are creeping past it. 16GB card (GOD, please let it be a card... Verizon has pulled that crap before... I still have things on my old Type-S that I can't get off because they yanked the card for the US version...) can be upgraded. I hope. Still, pretty wimpy even for stock.

Other things not mentioned: Battery life. The FCC stat leak imply that it has an anemic 1800mAh battery. In a world where the RAZR with a quarter of the thickness and better performance can get a 3300, why can't we? Especially for a phone being marketed as going out into the woods for hours.

Considering the Armor exceeds the Commando standards I imagine it'll be fine.

I don't care much about the other specs but the battery size/life is what kills it for me. Very disappointed.

well if you bought a second battery, 1800+1800=3600, you just have to switch it out. At least the batteries in these phones are replaceable

Good point. But while switching out batteries in the field is not that big of a deal, I think remembering and going through the hassle of recharging each battery to 100% each evening would grow tiresome quickly.

I just discovered that a 2920 mah will be available separately which should solve the capacity issue. Just hope they don't charge a fortune for it...
