i kind of don't think we'll be seeing the Iphone 5 as no one seems to really care or want it (LOL!). It's also going to be like $600+ and that doesn't work so well with a prepaid carrier but.... Would love to see the S3 available and seen rumors elsewhere of the Optimus G.

I'm just waiting on bigger screen LTE device, getting tired of a 4.3 screen. Also would like a device with a 300+ ppi screen resolution, so it would look better(or close) than a iDevice.

T-mobile has been great so far. It's coverage is like 2.5x bigger than sprint's footprint. Data speeds for hspa+ "4g" are around 8-13 mb Download and 1-1.5 upload. Hspa is also technically 3g but on steroids so it doesn't use up lots of battery compared to true 4G (lte). Wimax is half of it's speeds but has barely any coverage. Sprint 3g gets butchered compared to this.

The data cap doesn't really bother me. 5gb is plenty of data for the average user unless they decide to watch Gangnam Style daily on it.

Now that sprint is bought by softbank I hope they can eventually get lte in the same areas as 3g soon because their lte finally lives up to standard. Tmobile deployed lte as well but they don't announce cities until they're fully complete.

Exactly my experience with T-Mobile loving my note 2.my HTC Evo V is gathering dust. Even though I have a 5gb cap I only used 300 MB this month need to start using Mobile data now lol as its actually fast for me now.

According to todays paper, DISH has purchased a lot of spectrum and wants to get a cell phone provider to combine spectrum and be able to send movies, etc to the phone through the DISH network. Not sure of the technology involved but sending more content to the phone seems to be the wave of the future. PC sales have dropped considerably and they blame the smartphone explosion. I personally do not want to watch movies on a tiny screen with bad sound...

T-Mobile's LTE is way more battery efficient than HSPA+ 42 (on the nexus⁴ anyway). I've hit 5 GB last month for the first time and edge speeds absolutely kill me. I might go on the $70 truly unlimited data now that we have LTE. Also, LTE is worlds faster than HSPA+. HSPA+ 42 may have fast download speeds but by the time the 2nd channel kicks on, the page is already loaded on LTE when web browsing. The latency is what is making it way faster. GrooveIP works just as good if not better than regular voice service using LTE.

Yeah I forgot about that phone. Virgin might get it since it's an old sprint phone and I think the first 4G lte phone for Sprint.

Here's how a call center works.

You get trained on the new products, but as for a release date...you rarely, if ever, get that information. When I worked for Samsung, I was trained on the 2012 models a few weeks after stores started to sell them. It was great being a supervisor and having no idea what you were talking about

Nor do most but replacing a PC never been the point of a smartphone. For people with a home PC the smartphone is the compromise of connectivity and computing power wherever you happen to be.
Some people who loathe home PCs are finally getting on the web through smartphone ownership.
Some people who watch a lot of TV and movies are finally getting on the web through tablets tied to their home entertainment centers cable/sat connections. I don't think anyone is crowding around 4" screens in their living rooms watching a smartphone when they can hook it up to their flat screen TV, and therein may be the niche in question.
Most people need a cell phone but are also cutting expenses. If they can lose the cable company's $100+ monthly bill by adding data plans and upgrading to android phones that may be the trend that's growing.
What IS interesting is that smartphones just buried netbooks.
I needed more than a netbook so bought an ACER 721 ultraportable a couple years ago, love it. I use it for my home PC too. Hooked up to my kbd, monitor, DVD burner, etc, I forget it's not a tower and takes 30 seconds to throw in a bag and go. Its gaming capabilities are, meh tho.

Ting has the S3 16mb for $450.
Their plans seem to come in below VM's. Same Sprint network.
Check their used/refurb pages. Seen S2's there recently for $180 and up. Not sure if the used/glyde thing is dodgy or not.
They have the s3, ($450-579) the Note II, ($625) and the HTC one is scheduled for sale this week for $525. The Galaxy S4 will be in in mid May, price TBA.
So if you want high roller phones on prepaid no contract forget VM, Ting seems to have the market and at prices a bit below T-Mobile.
On mid level devices the cost of entry is higher on Ting, not worth it IMO. I do like their plan structure, pay for what you use in each category. I calculated an average monthly bill of $17. I'm on the $25 VM grandfather plan on a Triumph which is except for the charge port working flawlessly- and I just found the charge port is fine plugged into my laptop. (believe the high current output of the PC's USB is overcoming a resistance issue in the connection the charger can not?)

I'll be on the Triumph in 2016 at this rate.

I hadn't checked them out yet. I'm curious about reviews of their service. But according to what I use, it wouldn't be worth it for me anyway, VM is still cheaper.

And the optimus g has better specs than the gs3, and is comparable against the NII.

The optimus g is A LOT better(with the exception of a removable battery, and microsd card slot) than the evo LTE and gs3,

It depends on how you prioritize specs.

For me, removable battery and storage TRUMPS all specs related to quadrant scores, or screen resolution. The spec difference will be minimal to some degree with the phones you're comparing...so it's not like comparing the OG Motorola Droid to the Optimus G.

I'd take any phone with removable battery and memory over one without these features assuming they were built in the same year with relatively similar specs. In fact, a quad core without removable is less attractive to me than a dual core with removable...so I'll even let the specs slide a little in this case.

Flagship phones from different manufacturers will all be competitive given the same release times...so for me, having removable storage and a battery is of utmost importance...and will always trump a few numbers of difference in the performance spec of the phone.

i really dont want the LG Optimus G to be the next phone because I need a slot for a SD Card... i like to use my phone as a MP3 player as well... i load all of my SD cards with 15-20GB worth of music... and this phone doesnt even have a memory card slot... YUCK!

i have the Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G LTE and it's not too bad.. it's slow sometimes and i hate how I cant put apps on my SD card without rooting the phone... i guess Samsung doesnt allow that on any of their phones... personally, my favorite phone was the HTC EVO V 4G 3D phone... i started with the LG Optimus V then the HTC One V then HTC EVO V 4G and now the Victory... i mainly got the Victory because i wanted a phone with Jelly Bean on it so badly... and i was not let down by the OS at all, i love it! i just wish i had it on a HTC device because from all of my experience, HTC has been the best.

my ultimate wish would be that we can buy ANY phone and use it on VM... id love to go out and buy the new HTC One and immediately use it on VM... i know im asking for too much, but man, that'd be great!

EDIT::: yup, looks like i did contradict myself... i guess i just dont understand the point in making a phone WITHOUT a memory card slot... i dont care how much RAM or space the phone has.. this day and age people use their phones for everything and what, once you use up the memory on the phone, you're screwed? forget that! let me load up my SD card with the nonsense I want and keep the phone free of thousand of MP3's, movies, apps, pics.. whatever.
