Screen goes blank on phone calls after JB update and screen repair

I recently sent my phone out via Radio Shack (Werx) to get the screen repaired. When it came back, I also updated my phone to JB.

Since then, I have a real problem with the screen going blank during phone calls. Nothing I press brings the screen back. If I make a call and it goes to voice mail, the only way to hangup is to pull out the battery. And if someone calls me, I have to wait for them to hang up before I can do anything on the phone.

A partial workaround is to set the phone to always show the numeric keypad for all outgoing calls. But it is still a problem for incoming calls. This is really getting in my way. Any suggestions on what to do?

Oh, and I downloaded AndroSensor and it says my Proximity Sensor is 1.2 inches, all the time.

I have a Droid Bionic on Verizon.

I mailed my Droid Bionic back to Werx Screen Replacement late Monday night (as I needed the phone to pick my wife up at the airport). Today, Thursday, it arrived back, fixed. So it works now. Thank you all for the advice on the proximity sensor as it allowed me to tell them and get it fixed fast.

Hello,

This happened to me but it is easy to fix. The cause is that there a small rubber gasket behind glass that separates the signals received by the proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. During screen repair, the gasket may have fallen off or become dislodged from it's seated position. In order to correct the issue, you need of open up the back of the phone, remove the 10 T-6 screws and 1 T-3 screw, remove the top antenna/camera housing and adjust /inspect the gasket to the proximity and ambient light sensor which is located to the left of the earpiece when looking at the front of the screen.

There are videos on YouTube to show you how to disassemble and reassemble the Motorola Droid Maxx.

I hope this helps.
