Help Weird sounds when using headphones / improper operation

definitely try a different set of earbuds/phones.

EDIT: did you try the buds that came with the phone? how do they behave?

Okay I tried two other headphones and they both worked perfectly with the double triple press. It is definitely the beats by dre . Ironic because this phone is powered by beats???

So I am experiencing a strange problem with my HTC One. When using headphones with my HTC One (I have tried several) I hear strange sounds when the phone is loading a game, skipping a track or any kind of 'thinking'.

I can only describe it as an electric sounding pulse/buzzing. It carries on all the way through game loading, and for a second or two when skipping track.

I tried the same headphones with my friend's One and he said he didnt hear anything unusual.

I'm posting this thread to see if anyone else has heard of this or knows if I have a dodgy phone, or its a software thing. Any advice is appreciated :)

What you are experience most likely is connected to paranormal activities or you may be listening to dub-step which sounds pretty weird and has that skipping kinda of sound. You may want to unplug the headphones and check for any lent or dirt that could be causing such an interference. Also I highly recommend testing the headphones on other devices to see if the issue persists. I hope everything works out for you.

MY FIRST POST:D:D:D:D:D

OK that's out of the way, i just got my htc one on tmobile and figured i would use my old beats earbuds with it... except it wont even acknowledge that they're there. They work fine in all my other devices so i was wondering if this issue has come up with anyone else

Welcome to the Forums!!

Have you tried other buds in your One? I can't see why they would and not the Beats buds, so try another set. If they don't work, you can try plugging/unplugging a few times and see if that will clean the jack up some and make better connection. If still no response with any headphones, return phone.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Welcome to the forums - both of you! :)

When you say -

I don't get you.

Regardless of what your friend hears, it's about what you hear when playing the same content in the same way.

If it doesn't happen on other phones, but it does yours, consider taking it back for replacement.

Good place to test might be the shop where you got it.

PS - merged similar threads.

Tried other earbuds, aux cables work, even computer speakers and they all work fine so I guess I'll be buying a new pair

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the replies and the warm welcome!

I came from the Apple side as a new convert, this phone was too nice to pass up for yet another boring iPhone update.

I'm pretty much resolved to take it back to the shop, but I was just wondering if anyone else had experienced this issue. Google comes up with nothing so far, so perhaps I am the only person on the planet who gets these strange noises.

Well I went out and purchased a brand new pair of beats earphones and have to say...I really like them! They sound Great...

However there's one problem, they're not fully functional on my HTC ONE or any other android device. Sound comes out of them of course, but you can not raise or lower the volume, or play and pause music. Those features will only work with an iphone? Really HTC?

Now doesn't HTC pretty much own beats? Doesn't my phone say beats on the rear of the phone? I find it pretty silly that a pair of $100 headphones that are beats branded don't fully function correctly on a Flag ship phone that is also beats branded.

PS...
I don't want to start downloading apps or what not to somehow make my earphones work with 2 clicks or 3 or 4 clicks , etc....Earphones at this price that are branded by pretty much the same company should work 100% work flawlessly out of the box.

HTC does not own beats, they sold their controlling interest a while ago.

HTC does not manufacture the headphones.

Can't explain why you are having issues, but it's possible the headphone jack may not be properly setup for use on the htc one...

No your misunderstanding...They are not faulty, I'm not having problems with them.

They are not made to work (non of them) fully with Android phones.

As far as HTC owning beats, they still have a controlling interest.

Taken from a BOY GENIUS REPORT ARTICLE on July 23rd 2012

In a recent feature, BGR questioned just how much HTC really gained from its $300 million investment in Beats Electronics. Apparently HTC (2498) has been asking itself that very same question, as the company on Saturday announced that it has sold half of its stake back to Beats about a year after its initial investment. HTC will continue to hold approximately 25% of Beats and it retains exclusive commercial rights to use Beats Audio technology in mobile devices.

So yea ; ) One would think these headphones would completely work on a phone that says ...beats... on the back of the phone and is made by HTC!

Hi all,
I'm not clear on wether the HTC One actually supports 3-button wired headsets or not?

I have tried many headsets, and besides the PTT (push to talk) button, neither of the volume buttons seem to function.

Headsets tried included standard iPhone 3 button hands free, Sennheiser hands frees, amongst others.

Can anyone confirm or deny whether the volume controls on any wired headsets work with the HTC One?

Cheers
Harry
