My PC sees my tablet when I plug it in. But when I try top install something form Google Play Store using the web on my PC nothing happens. I get no error message and I am simply told that it will be downloaded to my device shortly.
I waited 5 minutes and it didn't get installed.
I guess "shortly" means different things to different people.

Any ideas?

It needs an Internet connection via wifi, (or a cell provider). It won't get it from a USB connection.

I was following the instructions I was emailed from the developer of the launcher I'm using.
The email had a link to the download and I went there.
Of course, I then found it with play store on my tablet and installed it.

Why the heck would he instruct me to download it from the Google Play Store from my PC?????

You can't install an app from the play store on a PC to a tablet that isn't compatible. On the tab, it won't show up in the store. On a PC, it will show in the store but it won't allow the install.

But you can download the apk to the PC and then copy it to the Tab's SD card and side load it.

How do you think we all have Flash when it is not compatible with our Tabs?

I'm relatively new to tablets, smart phones and the like. I find many aspect confusing.
When I'm in Google Play on my PC, why is there a button "Install"????

It's an alternative means of installing an app to your device. If that device is connected to the Internet, and has been set up with your Google ID, the app you select to install should start installing almost immediately.

Yes, I'm well aware of that, but you started talking about "sideloading" and Flash, which is off-topic, as we were talking about Google Play.

But my point was right on...I figured that the OP couldn't directly load from the Play Store and gave him an explanation on what I thought was happening.

The side loading and flash comments were important to the point I was making.

This option enables you to "push" an app to your device. If you have multiple Android devices, you can select which one to install to, and it will get the app over whatever connection (cell or wlan) it has.
