[Verizon] [ROM] AOKP JB-MR1 Milestone 2 [4.2.2] (07.21.13) TORO

Yeah, wipe cache and dalvik cache first then flash GApps.

Alright I'll do that tonight... what exactly do I lose when I wipe cache and dalvik? I've done it before flashing an AOKP update, but not sure exactly what it does?

(I mainly want to know if I need to back anything up)

Edit: I just noticed Gmail wasn't installed either. I'll flash gapps again and if that doesn't work maybe I need to redownload the file. I flashed it immediately after flashing the rom, does that cause a problem?

Ok for some reason I can't get gapps to install. I guess the only thing to do is a factory reset and flash the rom and gapps tonight again.

Just to verify my sequence, I do a factory reset in recovery, wipe cache, wipe dalvik, flash rom, flash gapps. Reboot. Is that correct?
Perfect.

Just so you know, any Google Apps which are available for download from Google Play are not typically included in GApps packages and aren't supposed to be included via request of Google back in the early days of ROM flashing. So gmail shouldn't be there once you've flashed GApps. It wasn't there for me. Hope than clears things a little.:)

That clears it up a little.

I did a complete factory reset, cleared both caches, flashed AOKP and gapps, and Google Voice Search still doesn't work. This is before installing anything else or doing my Titanium restore. I get a quick "Unfortunately Google search has stopped" message that pops up for less than a second.

Edit: Problem fixed with an update from the play store, didn't even think of that for some reason. Thanks for you're help.

Just want to report other then the inversion perversions apks and themes I tried, this Milestone ""as is" runs very well on my device. Rock solid, perky and smooth butter.

After a day or so on Lean Kernels v6.4 exp 230 and setting the 230 MHz to load at boot my battery life is great.

Everything works. Tethering, Wifi, Bluetooth. I always full wipe.

Why folks dirty flash is beyond me. Russian Roulette! You never know when its going to raise its ugly head. One day you may try to run something and wonder why it failed.

Clean install for me. M1 is working PERFECT thus far (2 days in). I was on build 2 (I think) and it had developed so many bugs that I struggled to get through the day (random reboots, necessary battery pulls, etc). It is such a relief to be on a stable ROM again!

Question: I never used the Lockscreen in the past but think I might start - I like that I can pull the lock in different directions to open different programs (camera, handcent, dialer, etc). One thing that bugs me is the volume controls do not work. Is there a way around this? I would like to turn my overall volume up or down from that screen alone.

Thanks.

In ROM Control-->Lockscreen there is an option to turn on lock screen volume control. This however enables volume to be controlled while the phone is locked (on standby). Doesn't exactly solve your problem but I tend to find it handy.

Wish we could get "hold back to kill" back. I loved that option.

Regardless, I have not had a single issue with this rom so far.
There is a kill all button in recents if you activate it in ROM control. It's located at the bottom of the General UI section of ROM control. I know it's not the same but I use it and like it. :D
