BBC iPlayer: type of Flash content not supported

The app is designed for use over 3g and it still works when reception is not that great.

All things considered I think it is an excellent app, I managed to watch the F1 at work this morning.
I'm using it on my home wi-fi connection. It's the live TV, I've discovered, where the picture isn't good. Replay is fine, as you say.

Full flash is supposedly coming this Autumn but I wouldn't hold your breath.

You need to remember that this is a phone, compare the specsheet to your laptop/desktop, you just can't expect the same picture quality from the hardware. Receiving/processing streamed video is heavy on the processor and annihilates the battery.

I didn't try using the iPlayer until last night, and was dissapointed to see that not only does the Flash not work, but BBC iPlayer - Help - Not Supported doesn't work either. The Flash videos embedded into the BBC News website do work OK.

I thought this might mean I had to keep hold of my iPod Touch, but will check out Beebplayer.

Edit:
I tried it this morning. It certainly seems to do the job.

Unfortunately the Beebplayer quality is pretty poor, especially when blown up fullscreen on the Desire. If you choose not to use the beebplayer video player, and use the Desire's, you can say to show it at the original size. Video looks much nicer but is a tiny postage stamp in the middle of the screen! Last I heard BBC were looking to produce an Android app, as were TVCatchup... both of which I still have to turn to my iPod Touch to use.
