Downloaded in preparation for Monday! Will give it a week or so and aim for updated version if i like it! Been so long since I've flashed custom roms (2 & half years) with my ZTE Blade! Im going to root my ICS stock rom now and begin the backup process- already installed clockwork mod and done an nandroid backup just in case! Next is apps etc and their data. Now im talking about it im tempted to just flash this rom before bed and nandroid it once set up so i can switch where necessary! Is there anything wrong with doing that?

Are there issues restoring certain data from ICS into neat rom?

It's just my preference, but once I have flashed a new rom (rather than an update) I tend to reinstall everything afresh rather than from a backup. Emails and contacts are synced with gmail. I use SMS backup to save and restore my texts. Then on my PC I go to google play store and once logged in all my apps are listed. I put the phone onto the wifi and then just go through the apps I want and click install. They all get sent to the phone without even having to touch it.

Strange really... What country are you from then? I'm in Ireland, rooted my phone over year ago and I'm constantly using 3 different bank apps and never had any issue with any of them.
Root your phone, and don't worry about banking app. U can always unroot your phone back if (which I doubt) your banking app would not work on rooted phone.

Rooted on phone and my barclay's app will not launch as it detects root even though i can select temp un root. Pants! Any ideas?

Haha nah, will cope without and just rely on atm to get balance or if i can be bothered login online on my lappie! Really excited to try LSN Monday now! Im actually out tonight and going to the coast tomorrow so will stick with stock stable rom over these two days as i know what to expect with this rom.

Do you know if when restoring from a nandroid backup you have to configure all your apps again? For example twitter, tapatalk etc

A nandroid is a complete(ish) mirror image backup of ROM, app's and settings, (modem is not included). You will also need to do a Titanium and efs backup.

Below is some advice for anyone about to flash a new ROM...

Before doing anything further you should do a nandroid and Titanium backup.

You should also install Root Explorer, or a similar file manager, and use it to navigate to the, "/efs", file in the root directory of the phone and make a copy of this and put it on both your external SD card and PC as its loss or corruption in future could render your phone unusable and require a Samsung repair. Alternatively, you can install GSII Repair, free from the Play Store, to backup and restore your efs file.

These are your, "Get out of jail FREE" cards in case anything goes wrong, now or in the future.

Thank you, sorry for the noob questions! Been away from flashing custom for a few years! I've done a nandroid and efs.but wanted to know what i would need to set up again after a restore!

When you say modem does that mean i would need to restore and then flash a new modem separately? Or would i flash my stock rom (if i went back) which includes modem and then nandroid restore?

A nandroid is an all or nothing backup. in other words, if you re-install a nandroid, you re-install everything. If you want to restore just app's and settings then you need TB, as per my link which details the difference between the two and why you need both.

When you say modem does that mean i would need to restore and then flash a new modem separately? Or would i flash my stock rom (if i went back) which includes modem and then nandroid restore?

Most custom ROM's, including NEAT, include a new modem. However, you can flash other modems that may be more compatible with your network or location if you wish. See, Modems - Dummies Guide.

Hi all,

I'm on NeatROM Lite 4.6.1 XWLSN since a month or so. Everything is smooth and nice, using ironass STweaks settings. Battery hold time is good. BUT every second day or so the phone shuts down, I just find it switched off and to switch it on I have to hold the power button pressed for a while. This also happened in full battery, so it's not the battery to blame.

This is quite weird as previously I was on NeatROM FULL and then a couple of months on SuperNexus and this never happened. As I use greenify since a couple of months too, I was wondering if this application could do this. I'll install it for a week and see if the shutdowns will stop. If not, I think I'll go back to SuperNexus or maybe try the upcoming NeatROM.

Anybody noticed similar strange shutdowns with NeatROM Lite? Any idea or suggestion how can I debug and find out which app is causing this?

Thanks,
Ivan
