Root 3g problem

I've got a weird thing goin on with the 3g. I got this phone toward the end of last year brand new in the box as a replacement. It has been great up until yesterday, all of a sudden wifi goes out and no 3g. Everytime I turned on wifi it would disconnect even though the ip was remembered. When I tried to revert to 3g signal goes out but nothing was received. I called vm they said no towers down or 3g out. I did a master reset and still no dice. So I'm laying here tonight and go into advanced wifi settings change from 11 channels to 13 and BAM wifi back on but still no 3g any ideas?

Are you on a custom rom?

My normal advice is to do a nandroid backup and flash fresh. No extra apps for the test.

I did just that reverting all the way back to stock same results. After that I restored a backup I had but same results until I changed the settings in wifi

If it's not working on another ROM then that suggests it's network related. Any troubleshooting with Virgin Mobile would have to be done with a stock ROM. On my signature you should be able to find the stock ROM that I modified so it doesn't replace the recovery.

I did the trouble shooting with the stock rom (b_randon14) to no avail the only thing that helped was changing from 11 to 13 channels in adv wifi settings

I'm a little confused. You changed the wifi channel and it fixed the 3g data connection????

yes changed from 11 to 13 channels

you know these triumphs are screwy it worked for me but prolly won't for someone else lol. edit; 3g is still wonky

finally found out wth the problem was after waiting 2 weeks for a phone call. someone at virgin that speaks english (lol) told me the phone was "looping" and the only way to fix it was to restart my plan month. i did that and it fixed it immediately! also its 3 times as fast (3g) i was streaming music and songs were loading up as fast as if i had my wifi on. who would've thunk lol

LOL when I called them to get a replacement phone a year or so ago, they kept calling me Michelle instead of Michael or Mike.
