You like the Infinity for its premium build and simply "deal with" its issues?

I am a graphic artist/photographer/studio musician/presentation artist/videographer (point being I want to utilize apps that aid in my multimedia field of productivity) in the round robin of tablet hunting between the Asus Infinity, Note 10.1 and Nexus 10.

I first purchased a refurbished Infinity, returned it because the brightness control was defective. In that RMA wait time, I purchased a Note 10.1 to play around with it in real world use (vs. employees standing over my shoulder at Staples and Best Buy). I really like the Note and its performance, multi window, multitasking power and after having it a couple of days kind of "decided" that I would go with it over the infinity. The plastic build doesn't bother me as much as others.

I just got my replaced Infinity today and realize I do miss the premium look and feel of the Infinity, not to mention the screen res. Though I fear it cracking if I even look at it the wrong way.

My biggest gripe with the Infinity is the performance. Nexus 10 and Note 10.1 lag. They ALL lag and skip here and there. But not as much on the regular like the infinity.

I wanted to know if you guys have the same general feeling I have where you find yourself willing to "making it work" or "deal with it" (it being performance issues, crashes, stutter, lag, etc) for the sake of having a very premium looking, stylish tablet with an HD screen? Do all of these ROMs improve actual/real world productivity or does it just make swiping the app drawer smoother?

Lets face it, there IS that bit of pride in all of us and we like a well built, premium, high quality tablet. Even if it's more on the outside.

CromiX brings out the beast in this tablet and makes it easily comparable to a stock Nexus. I myself use CromiX and an OC kernel, which is not necessary, but the stock ROMS is a wannabe CromiX ROM. sbdags always amazes at how he build ROMS for the Infinity and how he is improving it everyday and helps you ASAP if you have an issue. Those who are on a custom ROM dont have major performance issues like on stock. The only thing that this tablet lacks in overall is i/o performance but with FSYNC disabled in the kernel, it speeds it up but it cannot fixed software wise, you can only prevent other things from using it all up.

Agreed, CromiX is the way to go with the TF700. It is a MUCH better user experience, faster and smoother.

Agreed but currently the directions are scattered. If you get confused and need help with the process just send me a pm and I will help your through it. ATM things are sketchy cause 4.2.1 is pretty new and everyone is switching to the 4.2.1 firmware for their source code.

I agree that out of the box the TF700 isn't a very good tablet. It's a shame that it more or less forces you to unlock and void your warranty in order to make it usable. However, lag for me is completely gone by running CromiX and limiting background processes to 4. Not as buttery smooth as my Nexus 4, but a million times better than how it ran stock.

I have really liked mine, had it for months but now the "premium build" has failed. Mine has the phantom touch problem where it appears that a finger is rapidly touching the screen in multiple places. Cold booting hasn't helped and I assume that the digitizer has gone bad (exactly as my Palm Pre went). Guess it's RMA time and hope for the best. The really irritating aspect is that it failed on day 1 of a two-week trip, the first time I decided to leave my laptop at home and go tablet-only. Never do that again.
