Help Slow Wi-fi on Note 10.1

I just ran some test on several Galaxy Note 10.1 for wi-fi speed. The note looses wi-fi speed quickly after turning wi-fi on. I called support and they had me restore the Note to factory settings. Same problem! Samsung has a big problem here and needs everyone to complain so they will fix it. Here is a test that everyone with a Note 10.1 (or any Samsung phone or tablet) should run. From Google Play, download the app Speedtest.net Open the app and run the speed test several times to get a few runs in the history. Now, go to your settings and turn off wi-fi for a few seconds and then turn it back on again. Now go back and run a few speed tests again. I've had every device run about twice as fast after simply turning wi-fi off and back on again. My Verizon Note 10.1 was as slow as 2Mbs after setting for an hour. Then after switching wi-fi off and on I went up to 60Mbs. This is crazy!

There is talk here and there about the next update taking care of the reported wifi issues. It appears that not every Note out there exhibits the problems with speed.. just enough of them for the promise of a fix with Jelly Bean, etc.

I want to make sure I understand your first sentence there: "I just ran some test on several Galaxy Note 10.1 for wi-fi speed." I'm inferring that you have more than one Note with data from the tests. If I'm wrong, and it's only one device, I'd try changing router settings/channels, and even do the reset again just to be sure.

Other than that, I might experiment with wifi apps from Play Store.

Speed test is not a tool used to check your Wi-Fi. It's just a benchmarking tool to test your ISP connection speeds. And there's always going to be something that will cause it to go 'wonky'. Distance to test server, signal degradation/strength, interference, etc.

The connection speeds I get with the Note 2 and Note 10.1 on my home network are 72 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and 150 Mbps on 5 GHz signals (maximum).

Mine also suffers speed degradation after being on for some time. If I turn it off and on again same thing.
Did 2 tests at 30Mbps left it 15 minutes 2 tests at 4Mbps, turned WiFi off and on again 2 tests again at 26-30 Mbps.
All in same place near router and low traffic.
Seems there is something in this problem

It looks like my note is slow too. I tried to connect the Note to the home router and to the Connectify soft router on a Windows 8 machine: in both cases I used ES file manager to transfer a huge file over SMB from the Windows 8 machine .

Results: while in general both routers work without a hitch, reaching even 6MB/sec with SMB transfers to other computer and phones, this is sadly not the case with a newly bought n8020. In this case the the speed crawls to a few hundreds Kilobytes per sec. Really disappointing, and I have yet to see sign of an upcoming patch or update

Edit: I know the USB3.0 to gigabit ethernet used on the notebook doesn't work with the Note 10.1; possibly driver and recognition issues due to the chipset used. Also a USB2.0 to 10/100 ethernet doesn't work too (which I returned).

You need to buy an Android-specififc one, nothing else will work.

You are incorrect. There are other users that used USB to Ethernet adapters that work with the Asus Transformer but fails on the Note 10.1 (as well as a few other tablets). So the Note 10.1 is definitely missing drivers and/or network connectivity. I have not found anyone who had any success in getting an adapter to work with the Note 10.1.

And this is what I pulled from BobjGear:

This Adapter will not work if Tablet manufacturers have not included an Ethernet (wired internet) capability in their version of the Android Operating System. I'd just like to necro this thread and I have the exact same precipitous drop in wifi speeds that other people are reporting. I'm glad I'm not the only one!

I have a refurbised note 10.1 that I just received 3 days ago.
I have ben using this for over 2 hours straight and just ran the speedtest , and I am getting faster speed test than what I am paying for .

I am on my 2.4 but I also have 5. I have an asus router, their high end one .

Did you all try to reboot your routers only and rerun the test on the same server?

I know I have read issues with certain devices with certain routers even tho everything else ran fine.

Have Samsung s5 (Android 6.0.1) and Note 10.1 (GT-N8000)( Android 4.1). Sitting in same chair with same speed test on phone and tablet and connected to same router. Phone between 10 and 20 times as fast as Tablet. Same for Non Samsung phone (10-20 times as fast as Tablet)
