Help Samsungs alarm clock sucks!

I hated my HTC Thunderbolt for a good 28 of the 29 months I used it for, but I am cheap so stuck out my 2 years. One thing I did kind of take for granted though was the alarm clock app they had on the Thunderbolt. I could set as many alarms as I wanted, I routinely used 5-6, set different ringtones, different volumes even if the phone was muted they would go off, and most importantly in the entire time I used it, I never had it fail to go off.

So I get my s4 in the mail from Verizon, and can't get it to activate. Take it in to the store and they took a solid 2 hours to get it to work too. Get home and play with it for a bit, and found a samsung alarm clock app. 1 setting for one alarm. I could not get it to set multiple alarms. Not a huge deal, I just have to make sure I don't ignore the first alarm (I tend to set 2 alarms in case I turn it off when I thought I snoozed).

Next morning I wake up in a panic. You know how your body just knows you overslept. 4 minutes late, so not a big deal. I'm kind of surprised really. Check the alarm and it is set to go off in 6 days 23 hours and 55 minutes. Thinking I just set it wrong, I played around with it some that day. Alarm never (not one time of the 5 I tested it) went off, I could set it for a few mins away, and it would tell me 2 minutes until alarm. 3 minutes would pass and I would check again and it would say 6 days 23 hours and 59 minutes until it goes off.

TLDR version. Stock alarm sucks. Use only if you don't care about missing stuff. Looking for a good alarm clock app, one I found that seems ok is ad supported. For an alarm clock...

You using "Alarm Clock" or "Clock"? I don't even have an alarm clock. I've been using the Clock since I had the Galaxy S which has the alarm, world time, stop watch and timer. I have 8 different daily alarms set up and they have never failed to go off. Not sure why you're having any issues with yours but I hope you get it fixed soon. Pretty good for a stock app.

No issues here either.... and I can set multiple alarms if needed.

Its actually one of the best alarm clocks on a phone ive ever seen

You can have many alarms set up, each can be set to activate on either one or several days, can be set to repeat each week, can have its own specific melody, its own snooze time etc.

If you think the HTC one was better, id like to now how as the S4 one (like the note 2 I had before) seems to have all the bases covered.

Maybe, just maybe, you did something wrong, or the devices time was wrong etc. Just saying. ;-)

Here you go, for someone who has never used a Samsung device http://androidforums.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/723371-all-you-newbie-s4-owners-s4-simulator.html ,or you can just use Google Now to set up your alarms, or any other appointment you might have.

yea ive never had mine not go off, even when muted. i even have multiple ones set up, 3 i think, they can have different ringtones and can have different volumes. There is even a setting where it only goes off at a certain gps location. so im not really sure what the problem with yours is

I have 5 alarms set to accompany different daily events. And two of those are set for weekends only. Each has different ringtones, and they have all gone off when expected except one time and that was my error, not the phone's.

I got the phone yesterday. I really like the alarm on it. Saying "Snooze" or "Stop" is pretty cool. The days of the week part kind of confused me for a minute. I guess if you want to treat it like a daily alarm that you can quickly choose to turn on (or otherwise leave it off) at night-- you have to mark every day of the week and check "Repeat Weekly". Or is there an easier way?

6087088[/URL]]Hey here's a question - I don't use my phone for an alarm because I have it silenced at night...I don't want it beeping and buzzing with notifications while I'm trying to sleep.

Is there a simple way to have it be silent at night, AND be able to be a nice loud alarm in the morning?

It should work even in silent mode. Put your phone on silent, not vibrate, set an alarm a few minutes, lock the screen and see what happens.

By design, the alarm will ring unless the alarm itself or your phone is turned completely off. The alarm's volume slider present in the alarm clock menu is independent of the rest of the phone. Even if you're on vibrate only, the alarm will ring. :)

Worked perfectly. I love this place. Thanks!

I use mine in conjunction with my iPhone everyday to wake me up. I figure, with an alarm set on 2 devices, reduces the chances of oversleeping if the alarm doesn't go off. I use the stock Clock app on my GS4, I too ran into issue where days weren't highlighted. On those unhighlighted days, the alarm won't go off. I highly recommend checking the "Repeat Weekly" box in the alarm settings. That way you won't have to worry about setting the alarm for whatever day you need it. Instead, now I can just tap the alarm icon next to the time to activate my alarm clock, instead of having to go into the setting every night.
