I'd say the worst bar none is Gizmodo. They could have just farmed the review out to any mac site and got the same result. Best so far goes to First look review: HTC DROID Incredible from Verizon Wireless | Smartphones and Cell Phones | ZDNet.com where he compares it to the Nexus one and even talks about custom ROMs.

Anyone concerned with the findings of basically requiring a MicroSD Card for the apps due to internal storage not being able to be found? 8GB onboard is great but it looks like that will be fully utilized once Google figures out how to use it fully for apps. Still looks like a great device and an 8GB card is cheap enough to get it doesn't really matter to me.

Worst reviews are overviews where nothing is really detailed or compared to other devices. Some are almost done from a fanboy perspective, rather than a true review of the product.

Looking forward to a review that points out:

1. How well the multi-touch works (does it have the Nexus display problems).
2. 2G and 3G radio reception (better than the weak Nexus?)
3. Wifi reception (weak / strong)
4. Actual free app storage space (out of the box)
5. Speaker volume
6. 3.5mm jack audio volume and sound quality
7. Call quality
8. FM radio reception
9. 1ghz or capped a 768mhz? probably 1ghz, but confirm.
10. Optical track control- good or over-sensitive (worthless).

I already know the Snap will be a fast chipset.

i'm also concerned about signal strength because the Eris that I used for a few weeks had piss poor signal strength. It was literally dropping calls in places where my dumbphone had full bars. I hope that HTC is using a different chipset in this one.

Something makes no sense though:

The snapshot of storage space shows 768mb free, but the review says apps are constrained to the 512mb rom. Unless this is one of them there new "1gb", 512mb roms , since the OS and preinstalled apps take up space as well.

If "contrained to the rom", free space would be around 200mb- not 768mb (768 free with a 512 rom is impossible).

The Engadget review seemed to hit a few of these points. I was pleased to see that the Incredible has a speakerphone just as loud as the Droid, which is considered one of the best.

Does it appear that from this review, Inc could possible have radio issues like Nexus? Same issues were brought up about the Nexus and it does have problems in weaker areas.

i think i saw a video review that mentions the clocking of the processor, that its true 1ghz. I watched it last night, cant check again now, cause im in class...

it was a 15 minute video with a minute and a half of camera footage from a seattle soccer game, i dont remember who the reviewer was, maybe someone can help me out

Phonedog reports that the tests he did with several apps was the clock is consistently showing 667mhz. Weird.

There were some other issues that people blinded with Inc love may have missed, but all could be corrected with a FW update down the road (hopefully)

1. Battery life seems weak compared to Droid and Nexus
2. Call signal weaker than Droid and apparently bar bounces like Nexus
3. Apps can not read the internal storage

Then again, if love was not blind, there would be a LOT less marriages

Some reports seem to be conflicting on build quality and battery at least. Well most agree the front feels plasticky which doesn't worry me as other phones have been called that and they were ok with me. But one review say the actual build quality which I take to mean fit, strength etc to be great. The phone just feels to light to be solid. Again doesn't bother me because people said the G1 was too heavy...make up your minds lol. Also some reports say the battery drains quick and some say they have made it for more than a day on a charge.

I guess we'll all see come the 29th.

I don't mean to sound like a jerk... but the casing is made of plastic.

I'm sure the vast majority of people will have some sort of case on it anyways. So this is really a non-point.

Also, to the people that keep bellyaching about the battery, it's a smartphone. It's not a feature phone. I can go 4-5 days without charging my LG Dare with moderate phone/data use. My work HTC Ozone needs to be charged every to every other night. It's just the nature of the phone. Get used to charging it every night. It's not going to hurt it.

thing is... a lot of these review sites still swing from Apples Nuts, and essentially if they admit it or not they are comparing the phone to Apple. Which I guess is alright as Apple really has set the standard. Problem is certain complaints really don't have to do with the phone's limitations but rather how it differs from apple. I have seen a few that mention the phone feels very comfortable in the hand. It is noted the back is a hard plastic and since it is not the metal on an iphone I imagine that's where the "cheap" feel comes from. Find yourself one at a Verizon store- also know going into your purchase you will have 30 days to decide if you like the phone or not. I think the all black looks asthetically pleasing over the Nexus 1, but there will be a 100 people that say something different.

It's not going to be "cheap" materials. It's their front line phone. I don't even think it will have a "cheap" feel to it as it's been very few sites mentioning it, and really if you look at the history of those sites, they are huge fanboys of Apple and will descredit anything that comes close to it. Peoples opinions are just that- their opinions. If you don't want to shell out the money without testing the feel yourself go to a Verizon store or best buy and check out their model.
Just keep in mind (saying this to the proverbial you)- if you want an iphone- wait and see if it'll come out on Verizon or get it on another carrier. If you want a phone that is a smart phone and will have the same functionality of say an iphone but does things it's own way- then get the Incredible.

For me, my most important thing I want answered is the multi-touch problem. Does this or doesn't it exist? I think this phone has more than enough going for it for me to like it as is for the next two years. Evidentually LTE will roll out and phones will get faster etc, so in 2 years we should start seeing those (or even 2nd generation LTE phones). This is a great phone as long as it doesn't have crazy multi-touch problems. JUST REMEMBER IT IS AN ANDROID, NOT AN iPHONE.

I just read the review. Overall great, until they criticized the design of the phone, which i completely disagree.
It's by far the nicest design that exists, in many cases people will use a case to cover the phone, in other words it doesn't really matter.

I was surprised by how even handed that BGR was. I tend to think they may have had a slightly faulty unit with the capacitive touch points being displayed, but they still did a good job.

Gizmodo I feel has reached new lows this week. I think they were so involved with the new iPhone situation that they totally phoned in the review. It was poorly though out and very short. Now they have outed the engineer that left the iPhone in the bar. I for one will not be giving them any more page clicks.

I agree that PhoneArena did a thorough job, as they usually do. Engadget was very even handed too.

One thing that I noticed though. Generally, the reviews from the Apple loving sites, which typically bash would-be iPhone killers were generally very coy about making comparisons to the fruit phone. That alone leaves me to believe that this is a great phone.

Generally, I'm very happy to see that the actual "phone" part of the device seems to be really solid. I already knew the Incredible was going to be a great device, I just didn't know how well it would make phone calls.

Dunno why peeps are calling the design uninspired or dull...

Just like sense has the "scenes" to change the phone to what you're doing ie work, play, weekend, social, etc...

The design of this phone does that to.
It would fit perfectly in on the conference table at work or on the bar afterwards.

It's like KITT. Classy, sporty, and sleek, a timeless design.

Can't wait to have it in hand...

It is kind of surprising that for a flagship device, Verizon did not ask HTC to use the same materials as Desire and Nexus, but perhaps that was the cost trade-off to get the built-in flash memory.

As far as the "two bar less signal" and "less signal than other Verizon phones", I will get the Inc and Droid to compare them and keep the one with the best reception (a lot of remote areas where I live). Phone Arena compared the Droid and Inc and also mentioned the weaker reception. Most definitive way to test is do it yourself
