iPhone 4g purposefully leaked to kill Droid Incredible buzz?

Does anyone else find the "leak" of this new iPhone "4g" info with Gizmodo rather suspicious in timing?

1) Gizmodo has always had a fairly evident Apple bias

2) The leak occurs right as momentum swells for pre-orders and general buzz for the HTC Droid Incredible

3) Apple hasn't fired a "Cease and Decist" at Gizmodo yet. Normally folks who just post PICS of unannounced devices get C&D's, let alone a large tech blog who has physical possession of a lost device that they shouldn't..... Unless of course Apple PURPOSEFULLY gave them a prototype and had Gizmodo fabricate a cover story to generate massive buzz to kill Droid momentum.

I distinctly remember a number of sites getting Cease and Desists for having purported pics of the iPad that weren't even real!

Paranoid? Mehaps, but i find the circumstances suspicious and the timing even more so.

kind of sounds like what MS pulls with xbox vs ps3 stuff. I wonder if jobs will start paying off app developers for exclusives lol... crap I bet he already has.

Ol Steve has done worse than pay off app devs for exclusive. With the SDK contract rewrite, cross-platform coded apps are essentially forbidden. He's trying to make ALL iphone/ipod touch/ipad apps exclusive unless a dev wants to spend the time/effort to completely recode his/her app from scratch for other platforms.

Seems possible.

Highly unlikely that one would have been "lost" in a "bar".
Highly unlikely this would happen to occur exactly during the weekend when the Incredible goes on sale.

The Incredible in the closest competitor to the iPhone and it seems clearly superior to the currently available phone.

Not to mention that the EVO will be released sometime near the next iPhone launch as well.

I think the was an intentional leak as well. We'll never know for sure of course.

I think its intentional. But I also think its a worthless plan. Thats the thing about Android. The phones will just keep coming and coming from all directions. All this does is give the fanboys something to fire back with at folk that are currently interested in the Incredible. As soon as I read that the screen may actually be smaller the slightest bit of interest I might have had was lost.

The other thing thats funny to me is how some fanboys were quick to call this and the all aluminum pic that came out ugly. But they both looked basically like a Mac to me. Its like the fanboys don't even know their own company.

The front camera is of little use since the other party would also have to have one. The one thing I did notice is that the screen is smaller than the current Iphone screen while being high resolution. My guess is it's a Samsung Super AMOLED 3.3" WVGA screen. Either way smaller + higher resolution is not good. It also uses micro-sims. While you can get an adapter for a full size sim if you travel you will find out full size sims are still the norm.
