Accessories Screen Protector / Invisible Shield?

I've never put a screen protector on a phone before, but this will definitely be the highest end phone I've ever purchased. I read today (forgot where - sorry!) that the Incredible's screen is NOT very resistant to scratches.

Are any of you concerned about the screen's susceptibility to scratches / planning to buy a screen protector? If so, is Invisible Shield the brand of choice for these?

Thanks. :)

I have heard some people say that the Zagg shields are a little sticky, and that running your finger over them is not very smooth, like if you are using Swype, for instance. So, I have the same overall question, can anyone chime in on the best overall screen protectors? NKT, I see you are a fan of the Zagg shield, what do you think about the "sticky" factor?

They can be a bit "sticky" feeling but I got used to it.

I like them because they tend to be better cut and it's easier to get a bubble free application.

My .02

This is one of those things that's going to be high subjective.

Personally, I ordered a shield, Although I plan on using the phone for a couple days to get a feel for it. Then I'll probably put the shield on and use it for a couple days, then decide to leave it on or not.

if you sign up for a ipad(free), and get lucky you'll get a code for 50% off (it varies between 10%-50%. I got the 50% and it was 10.37 total after S+H.

Personally I've read some people don't like the "wet" application method. I haven't used it, but I have had trouble with "dry" applied ones that, you basically get one shot to get it lined up and I've always had bubbles. I'm hoping this prevents those issues...

MontanaMan swears by a different screen protector that is German made. He told me about it last night in IRC and now I can't remember the name of it. I'm sure someone will chime in with it.

I want one that's easy to put on, and that I can attempt to put on several times as I'm sure to screw it up at first. One that's not too sticky, doesn't add a lot of glare, and will last.

Am I asking for too much? :p

Probably. :p

I'm skeptical about the screen being as scratch-prone as the reviewer stated. I mean he put it in his pocket? I've never done that with a touch-screen phone. My phone is either lying next to me on my desk, in the holster on my belt, or in my hand. Does anyone actually throw their phone in their pocket with keys, change, etc. and not expect it to get jacked up?

I keep my phone in my front left pocket with nothing else. My i760 has about 4-5 VERY light small scratches in it, in the last 5 months. and that's a plastic screen.

I really don't see you scratching this just carrying it in your pocket. (if you put it in there with metal items your stupid and its your fault it gets scratched)

That said I will "probably" be putting a protector on mine.

Steinheil Crystal cover, might be the one Montana Man likes, but I saw it mentioned over in the Official Inc thread, someone said it was better than the Zagg protector. A quick google search got me to a thread in the Moto Droid forum where the people who have the Steinheil Crystal LOVE it, and they say it is much better than the others they have used. Only question is, when will they have one available for the Incredible??

Interesting. I will definitely be researching that protector.

If you want the best screen protector out there, get Zagg's Invisible Shield. It is slightly sticky at times, but once you work the oil from your fingers into it it becomes much easier to slide across.

Their product does a great job protecting phones, I have dropped my other phone many times and it never scratched the screen. It never even scratched the body when i dropped it either because I used to have full body coverage, although they do not offer that for the Inc.

Here's a link: SGPStore.com | iPhone, iPod Cases, Pouches, Protector Film, Camera, Laptop Skin, Metal Skin

Not available for the Incredible yet.

I put the full shield (front and back) on my iphone using the wet application, and it says your supose to keep the solution away from holes and your supose to leave your phone off to dry for 12 hours or so... and to let the shield adhere to the phone. Personally i love the Zagg and will be getting it for the DI, i got used to the feel of it and i dont really think its 'that' tacky/sticky but then again i never used my iphone without the zagg...

Get one and try it.... if you dont like it, they peel off once you get one of the corners up... and then try something else... i was even able to reuse my shield when they replaced my iphone due to a faulty screen.... and ive been using it for a full year now.....

* note: i ended up taking the back shield off and using a case by Incase along with the screen protector

Also with the zagg ive had my keys press into the shield and it will leave a mark in the shield that disappears after a couple hours so even tho my shield has been scratched and what not over the past year... it still looks brand new and you cant see any imperfections in the shield... so durability of this shield seems to outlast any other shield ive seen...

everyone check out bodyguardz instead of Zagg. zagg only gives you one and is expensive and has the grippy / orange peal look. the bodyguardz are ALOT cheeper and you get 2 and has no peal and crystal look and Smoooth feel to it and guess what its the same thing!!!! i bought full bodys for my droid for 24.00 and the screen it self is 2 for 14.00. ive used zagg and every time i hated it the bodyguardz went on great and all dried up and good to go after 24-48 hours. I use them for all my electronics. Zagg is just well know as they promote alot and best buy sells them retail now/

I have a Zagg on my iTouch, and think it's great. I wouldn't consider it to be tacky, but there is a little resistance as you slide your finger across it, which I actually like. It does seem like there is a little glare to it, but this is the only one I've ever used, so I don't know if what I'm seeing is good, normal or bad. For me, I don't care much about the price of the screen protector, I just want something that gives the best protection and look.
