Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Is anyone bothered by the lack of 802.11n? I'm not all that much, I'm fine with g, but just wondering if anyone sees this as a downfall?

Or maybe we might get n?

Personally I can wait for N... I use N at home, but thats about it, everywhere else I go is B or G (hotels, airport, cafe...) And if N is power hungry then I can definitely wait. Battery life is the one area where no one has made any break through yet... I would like to see the EVO MarkII sport 24 hours of heavy use without needing to be charged.

Well I'm already resigned to a June release so I just need to develop some new hobbies in the meantime. If Apple really does call their 4th gen iPhone the iPhone 4G I'm gonna be pretty annoyed (unless they have a version for Sprint 4G :)) That would make for some great commercials about who really has 4G and who is just a poseur. Still, I would hope they stick with the iPhone HD nomenclature unless the thing can use Wimax or LTE networks.

I would like to see the EVO MarkII sport 24 hours of heavy use without needing to be charged.

You and me both, man... I think battery tech is going to be the next big jump in the mobile space. Until you can get more than most of a day's use out of a charge you will be limited. Once you can get a modern phone to last even just 2 days with average use it will be a big deal. I would love to just charge every night not out of necessity but out of convenience.

There have been groundbreaking achievements made as far as battery technology the problem is no one is putting it to good use.

Take Nanowire technology for example:
Nanowire Battery - High Energy Nano Wire Batteries

That's some amazing stuff right there but cellphone makers aren't taking notice sadly. With this new technology it would be easy to power an Evo with a similar size battery that comes with the unit and only have to change it maybe once a week under heavy use.

im gona admit, htc did an amazing job (i cant stomache to say incredible job) on the incredible. seeing the review videos are pumping me up for the evo more than i have ever been. all i ask is for sprint to just give us a damn date so we can stop being so anxious.

Agreed. I've read the DI reviews and watched the videos, and now I'm even more exited about the EVO. HTC is awesome! They make top quality gear and software. It seems to me that HTC really does listen to the people who buy their stuff and they implement change quickly. Not to mention they react to competition quickly too. The HTC and Android combo seems to be a powerful force (a force for the good of the people.)

You all talk to much. LoL. Took me all day at work to catch up and ive skipped a couple pages.

Ditto, but I did not skipped any pages, I was on page 65 or something...Keep up the good work, videos, rants, rumors, etc, it is all for a good cause...:p

A little off topic, but how do you change what says under your name? In my case it says "Where's the search?"

This is a question about android 2.1 with sense in general. I have a buddy that just got an hd2 (he never listens to me) and it has a keyboard option that lets you slide your finger from key to key and it picks up on what you are typing pretty accurately. I know there is an app that does this on android, but I was wondering if it was supported natively on sense.

Also, on the palm pre it (sometimes) was able to be plugged into a stereo through the headphones jack and could do music (via 3rd party software or the music player) and nav at the same time. If the nav kicked in, the music would dim and the nav would give directions. Then, if you got a call (again, sometimes) you could use your car speakers along with the speakerphone mic to take the call. Is this possible on the android platform?

I believe that is Swype that you are describing, and it came as an "input method" my BF's Mytouch with Tmobile. So I believe it is something just native to Android, but then again I could be mistaken. I played with it and it was definitely not my cup of tea, but it's nice to have options built in to the product.

Do any phones out there now provide "n" wifi? I know the Incredible and N1 don't...

A few different places are saying the Droid Incredible DOES have wireless N. And since this phone is coming before the EVO, maybe one of the secrets Dan Hesse was hiding is that the EVO will have an WiFi-N radio as well. I don't see why it wouldn't if they put one in the Incredible.
