Digital copies on Flixster app

I bought a copy of the new Harry Potter movie and created a Flixster and Ultraviolet account for the Ultraviolet digital copy that you are authorized to download with the bluray copy. I downloaded a copy of the movie to my phone, but when I try to play the movie through the Flixster app, I get a loading screen that says "initializing" but never goes further than that. Has anyone been able to get the digital copies via Ultraviolet to work?

I get the same thing. When streaming, i get "initializing" for a few seconds, then it goes away, but i get no movie. When viewing the downloaded copy, initializing doesn't ever go away.

I contacted support and here's their reply:

Playing back a downloaded movies requires OS 2.3 or above - are you using this? As for streaming, could you try switching to wifi (if you are not using it already). Let me know whether this helps.

None of that was the least bit helpful. Awaiting a response.

I just barely discovered flixster, due to recent blu-ray purchases that included digital copies (love that). I'm glad this thread was started because I had downloaded a couple of the movies I purchased on my phone (as well as my pc) and was hoping that the mobile downloads would be accessible offline (better on trips, when going out of signal area).

Nontheless, I found the FAQ's very helpful:

Flixster | Movies on Android

For my specific issue (e.g. finding the downloaded files)
Flixster | After I have downloaded an UltraViolet D...

Thing is, I tested the files out after I moved them to my exterior SD and even though it says you can watch, while not connected, only place to watch I believe is through the flixster (e.g. Movies) app and for whatever reason, I wasn't able to get it to work (while testing it in airplane mode - to prevent any internet connection).

Okay, just to update on my experience. So far, I've noticed that this works when the file is still in the original download folder, but won't work when you move the file anywhere else. The way I tested is by putting the phone in airplane mode and then opening the flixster app. It keeps giving warnings about the phone not being connected to the internet, but when you go to the Collections area of the app, it still plays the download (as long as it's in the original download folder).

I have an email into tech support (by way of Sony's digital downloads) inquiring about this. On PC, you have to watch through the Flixster Collections program and when you move the digital file to a different folder, there's an option for the program to actually allow you to browse through your folders to find the file. I can't see why this wouldn't be possible with the flixster app for Android.

sorry to bring up an old thread... but i downloaded a few movies and finally did this successfully but was wondering if there is any way to change the destination folder for download and play, because my Tablet only has 8gb of internal, and I have a 32GB micro SD. Can i somehow make these download to my card instead? Cuz otherwise this will eat up all of my available space unfortunately :(

I emailed Flixster about this multiple times, but they never really quite understood what I was asking and it didn't seem like they had plans to make the files identifiable through a different directory (e.g. external SD).

As far as I know, that hasn't changed, and the file still has to be on the internal storage in order for it to play. If you want, you can try emailing them like me. I think the more demand they get for being able to move the file to the external SD and have it identified in the app from the micro SD, the more chances there are that they'll develop it to work that way.

good news! i got a reply from them and it actually helped. i asked quite a few questions and learned even more.
the 5 download limit is 5 devices, not downloading 5x only. so u can download a file 100x on your device if you wanted.
she told me where the files save to, and you can move from that destination to another if you want (example, my sd card) and put back to the stock preset destination when you want to view. so when not in use, i move to my SD card. when i want to watch, i move back the original folder.
this obviously isnt the fastest process, particularly since my card is class 4 but figure about 3-4 minutes to transfer then wah-lah!

hope this helped. if you want to know the destination folder LMK and ill post it

Well, it's a decent idea, but not very convenient at all.
