Phone Upgrade Help!

I am due for an upgrade at the end of this month. I am on Verizon and I found a workaround to keep my unlimited data :D

So back in 2010, I purchased my first smartphone, the Motorola droid 2. I absolutely loved it! I've always wanted an iPhone. At that time Verizon didn't carry it. So my choice was an android phone. I fell In love with my droid 2. But after a year it started to crap out on me and it made me hate android. I couldn't take the lag, how slow it was and how un responsiveness it became.

When I upgraded, I proudly got the iPhone 4S! Not one single problem. Jailbroken and everything!

The problem is, even though its jailbroken, it's still boring.

Now that apple revealed iOS 7, IT'S STILL THE SAME THING! It looks like a damn theme I can get out of cydia! Everything announced about iOS 7 I can already do because its jailbroken!

My mind is pretty set on the GS4. If I purchase the iPhone 5, its going to be the same thing I already have. I want something new and fresh. And that's the GS4.

My problem is, will android start crapping out on me again? I don't want two years with a disfunctional phone for nearly a year like my droid 2. Will the GS4 be buggy, slow, laggy and unresponsive after the first year? Or even months or any time in that matter? I don't feel like waiting for the iPhone 5S because we all know that it's not going to be anything worth waiting for.

I believe I have 8 days to make a decision.

Remember, a phone today is nothing more than a mobile computer that can make phone calls. You load up your computer or phone with faulty programs/apps or fill the internal memory and you will have issues. No matter what device you are using.

In the next eight days, the GS4 is about as future proof as it gets. It is easily one of the top three hardware specs out right now (if not #1). And the best hardware today will be antiquated the slowest.

If you're into jailbreaking, you can root your GS4 and keep up with the newest versions of Android and not wait on Verizon to do it for you.

I bought my Galaxy Nexus for similar reasons. It is showing age now, but with the constant upgrades to the latest versions of Android, I have never felt left behind.

Thank you! I also had my old droid rooted too. I'm familiar with that. I just don't want anything bad happening like my old phone. The only flaw I see is most apps come second to android but first to iOS. That's with all android phones.

I don't think that anyone can really fortell the future of the S4 since it is fairly new, but Android has come a long way in the last couple of years. I have the S4 with Verizon (and AT&T), and I am absolutely loving it! I think it is fair to assume that your S4 will be fine for the two years of your contract, if you don't have any problems with it in the trial period.
I have never had an iphone for the very reason that you mention. I would be bored to death with it. That is one thing about Android....it never gets boring!!!:)

Sadly you are correct. But given that Android has surpassed 50 billion downloads and will sometime this year surpass apple in number of apps available in their store - I hope this changes. But I am somewhat perplexed it hasn't happened already given the marketshare numbers.

Another way to look at it....work out the bugs on apple, then when you are ready for primetime - release for Android
