is there any way to delete content from the text message log. it is very simple to delete from the phone call log but there doesn't seem to be the same feature on the text message log. i have read the manual, talked to other local users with the same phone and tried everything i could think of with my phone but it seems impossible. i even tried samsung support but they couldn't help me either. any ideas out there??...thanks

:)I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for. But if you long click(keep your finger pressed down) on one of the messages on your message list a box should appear, as shown below.

Name of Contact
View Contact
Delete Thread
Register as Spam Number

Click on whichever is the appropriate one for you.

Hope this helps!!! Apologies if it is not:)

Haven't had my S3 very long and still getting used to it.......

absaroka,

Long press on message or thread click delete.
To delete a person out of the messages you have to
delete the Thread not the messages within the thread.
=====================================
Go directly to the app, open the settings
There is a "delete all" key. hit that .:thumb:

Ok ;)
1. Go to your play store for Google
2. Download "history erase

3. Once downloaded, open it
4. Click delete all sms and mms
Or if u want to clean more click it
5. Then hit clean.
Done:pepsi:
Another good quick free app hope it works for you all too:D

None of these "solutions" delete the messages log the OP asked about. He is not asking to delete the actual text/sms messages, but instead the log of those messages. FYI, this is a different log than the Call log.

I beg to differ. My original answer above describes exactly how to delete the messaging logs without affecting the call logs.

First off, when ever we click the button to bring up our text box and click on the little botton to the right of "recipient" we get our contact list. We see a menu at the top (groups, favorites, contacts and logs). Unless I missed something there are no apps to clear this I triied hundreds - oh by the way, I am an (electronics tech, certified pc admin, cnet program beta tester). Anyway, Here is how it's done >>>

1) go to your phone dialer
2) tap on "logs" on the top menu
3) tap menu on the bottom of the phone (noobies this is the lightup thing to the left of the home button at the bottom of the phone) lol, sorry i missed it to because you can't see it till you touch the screen and it lights up !
4) when you touch the menu button and list pops up (view by - call duration - call settings
5) tap "view by"
6) another list pops up (too long to put here)
7) tap all meseges
8) at the top right there will be a "select all box" at the top of the list - tap it so there is a check in the box
9) tap the light up menu thingy at the bottom of the phone to the left of the home button where we started all this from
10) a menu pops up with the word (delete) tap it and -- VUALA !

your welcome ! -- sorry i sounded like a smart a@s but, I needed this spelled out for me too by a samsung specialist wich took me 6 months to figure out lol. have a nice day

Hi, this is my first post on here although I've been using Android on a couple of phones for the last couple of years without much problem. I now have a Samsung S4 mini and the problem is that I'm having difficulty in clearing out the email log rather than the phone/messaging logs.
To explain the problem, when you want to compose an email and call the contact list up, as well as the usual Contacts, Favorite and Groups columns there is a column for Logs which has email addresses stored from at least 6 weeks ago. Pressing the menu button does not bring anything up, the only thing you can do with these addresses is to tick them and they are added to the TO line on the email. I need to clear this log as it probably uses some of the phones memory. Any way of doing this please?
