So, on my Droid 3, I used an application called "Silent Sleep" that automatically turns the ringer off at night. The problem I have though is that it prevents emergency calls from getting through. Last night, mom mad a late night trip to the ER and I slept right through it.

Is there an application that automatically silences the phone at night, but let's specific emergency calls through, and also plays nicely with the S4 (in my experience, these sorts of applications don't work universally well across all Android phones).

Well, I spoke too soon. The is no blocking mode on the Verizon S4.

Program called Smart Sound Profiles is working for me. The other one's I had used previously no longer worked on the S4, but this one is working just as you describe you need it too.

Alexandar Tartar is the dev.

I've used "Smart Profiles" on both my S3 and now on my S4. It controls a lot of things including the ringer and you can have it change profiles on time, manual or location.

Oh and it's FREE!

I have smart profiles, and used it on the Rezound. On the GS4 what has happened to me is that when it switches profiles it didn't always reinstitute the volume levels. For example at night I would have it silence notifications, but on resuming normal notifications would come back on. It would work correctly a cycle or two, then it would stop turning notifications back on. Or it would do the opposite, causing me to hear text/email notifications at night until I manually changed the notifications sound with the volume rocker. It happened so often, and at the same time so randomly that I gave up on it and looked for something else.

EDIT: Retract all of the above, I was using a different app.
