Text Alert During Call Query?

Can anyone please tell me how I can set my phone up so I get a discreet beep in my earpiece if someone texts me during a call?
This has came as standard on most of my previous handsets but for some reason not on the S4.
I'm using gosmspro as my text message app & I tried looking through the many settings in there.
I did find what I thought was the answer only for it to play my message alert tone really loud down my ear.
Any help would be much appreciated.

I'm using the stock messaging app, and I get a beep every time I get a text message. Since I have it set to re notify every 10 minutes, if I'm on a long call, I keep getting peoples, causing me to look, thinking I'm getting an incoming call. I would like to turn that feature off.

In the Phone app go into settings and there you have Alerts during calls.

But it is not going to workk if you have disabled notification in Messaging.

But when it's enabled in gosmspro it doesn't do a discreet & gentle beep in the earpiece my actual alert tone plays at full volume which is awful & could possibly be damaging to the ear.

Stop using Gosmspro then.
