Is it possible? Samsung Galaxy S!

So how do you think this phone Will match up against the iphone 4g?

When did AT&T get 4g? When was it announced that the next iPhone will have a WiMax chip?

The only thing about the EVO's 4G support is that, currently, there is zero official support in Android's networking stack to support WiMax or WiMax radios in general. Due to this, Sprint and HTC better not have a similar issue as the CDMA lock up issues they had with the Hero by essentially hacking in WiMax support.

@cosine83 - From what I've ready in the early reports on the way that WiMAX works, it is inserted in to stacks similarly to WiFi controls. Inserting this into an OS in that matter could be ultra simple and would not lock the CDMA/EVDO radio the way that 1.5 does. We'll see if Sprint gets it perfect on the first try, but I'm betting it won't be perfect.

@IOWA - I know that they have a keyboard driven "Moment" looking device that is running the hummingbird, but I don't know if it's a Moment successor or a continuation of the "Galaxy" line that might replace the Omnia?

@Everyone about abuse - Ok, look the Moment has more issues than you can shake a stick at. Radio locks up, poor battery life, incompatible software, etc... Many people blame Samsung, some blame Sprint, some blame the salesperson - it doesn't matter, it has some serious performance flaws. If we didn't put the phone through a tough test before the 30 days was up, we got stuck with something a bit bumpier than many smartphones.

We all get pissed when our new "baby" won't do everything we want it to - but the best part is - everyone is already waiting for the 'next gen' stuff and by that point - 1.2 to 1.5 Snapdragons will be in phones, we'll see a gig of RAM in the devices, and Android 2.5/3.0 will be in testing... We're never going to be 'happy' with a device and we will always blame the manufacturer of the device for that. It's why forums like this exist.

Just my 2 cents...

And just a question, who started the leak that the Galaxy is coming in CDMA form? I haven't seen anything from Samsung directly saying that it's coming in anything but GSM form. This analyst they quote said that the carriers weren't impressed enough with the phone to sign an exclusive? Sounds like a bad device to me. Verizon will continue to carry a Samsung flagship under the Omnia header as the i910 is still their best selling smartphone ever. Sprint has the Moment (will the Galaxy launch as the Moment 2?) AT&T doesn't care since it's not the iPhone and T-Mo is so in-bed with HTC it's not even funny...?

Maybe abuse was the wrong word. I feel that the modern consumer has been forced to endure so many trials and hardships through companies providing incomplete, broken, and buggy products and services that we have collectively become numb to all but the most grievous consumer disasters.

In this case, the Moment was released, had some bugs that could be fixed with a patch or update, and we were told that Sprint/Samsung were working on it and would have it taken care of. We put our faith in their word, and here we are 6 months later with the same situation as in November. Six months doesn't seem like a long time to some of you, but technologically speaking its a long time. The fact is, we as consumers have been neglected and taken advantage of, with the choice being to deal with it or go without. I feel like if we all were a little less calloused to bad business practices we would have more power to get results quicker. Instead, everyone shrugs it off as something we can't help and the companies just keep shaking us down for more money for less service.

I mean, World of Warcraft has patched like 4 or 5 times since I bought this phone. It has a ton of code, and they make it work on $15/mo. My ipod has patched twice since I got the Moment. For me, it seems clear that the issue here is not about ability or how many bugs there are or how complex the OS code is... its that no one cares enough to get it done in a timely fashion.

And now that 2.1 has been leaked, many of those of you who were actively raging have been pacified. Before I made this thread I hadn't seen a release date thread since right after 2.1 was rooted.
