S4 PDA & CSC codes

Coming from the Samsung Galaxy SII, I knew what the various PDA and CSC codes represented. However, the structure seems to have changed for the S4.

For instance, the recent Germany firmware release is...

PDA: I9505XXUBMEA

I9505 = Model no:

XX = Language pack for de,en,es,fr,hu,it,nl,pt(cs,da,el,fi,no,pl,sl,sv,tr, I'm guessing???

UB = ????

MEA = Build no:


CSC: I9505OXABMEA

I9505 = Model no:

OXA = Open Europe code... I'm guessing???

B = ???

MEA = Build no:


Can somebody throw me a bone and help me out here as I would like the definitive answers to these codes so that I can help others.

Not sure how much it helps but my phone from phones 4u on a T-Mobile SIM(not tried any others yet to see if it's unlocked) has the code:

At least gives a picture of another phone...Will ask my brother as he is on three mobile UK, just didn't give you details about the other Europe phones...Sorry

Oh, dear! :slug: has found me on here and de-cloaked! So much for my cunning plan of keeping a presence on the SGSII forum. :shot:

Thanks for the offer Slug and for the odd code explanation sntaylor but as I tried to sort of explain in post #1, I'm stuck on the, "U", and the, "B", bits.

I'm beginning to think, (there's a novelty), that since the, "U", is common to every build release to-date for the i9505 and i9500, that it could be Samsung reverting back to their pre SGSII numbering system in some way.

For instance... M E A could = M for year 13... E for May build.. A for the first build that month. Seems logical to me.

That still leaves me with trying to explain the, "U", and the, "B", or, "A", or, "C", that appear in, say, I9505XXUBMEA or I9500ZCUCME5 or I9505XXUAME2 in the PDA codes.

The XX, ZC, etc; are the language packs in PDA and in CSC the OXX, OLB, etc: are the regional codes.

It's just the U and the A/B/C that I can't work out. :dontknow:

As you both know, these codes are very useful to me in things like the Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide

I have asked on the SamMobile Forum and have emailed Samsung... zilch, so far. I fear I may be tossing in bed thinking about this!

I didn't think the info I was divulging was of any real use to the cause....if there is anything we can also do to help in certainly willing....just nothing to do with the bedroom ;-)
