---Just flash in recovery

Hi Gt,
Went to recovery to change battery icon and wound up to new install of Katana v3. All my settings are gone. What did I do wrong? Can I get back to where I was easily before I went into recovery? I know I can manually restore but it's a pain (time).

Thanks.......Tom

That sounds like what happens when you press the 2nd button in recovery app without pressing the first one and waiting for the OK popup.

Other than that, I have no idea. This was a simple flash for new battery icons without the need to wipe anything.

The only way to return to previous state is to restore a backup.

Hi GT,

Thanks for the reply. Is it possible now to restore a backup and how would I do it? I don't know how to make a backup so I guess I'm stuck unless there is a backup that I'm not aware of.

Thanks...........Tom

Unless you've made a backup through the recovery or with lg's backup or titanium backup then you are stuck with reconfiguration it your self.

Thanks for the reply. I have backed up everything with titanium and of course that necessitates an app by app restore which I have done every time I install a new rom. But is there such a thing as an image backup like on PCs? If there is, can you tell me how to do it for future use. I thought I read in the forums that you can boot from rom to rom and back again.
I appreciate your help.

Thanks......Tom

You can backup your roms by going into recovery and clicking on...

1. in recovery click on backup and restore
2. click backup
3. then click backup to external sd
4. let process finish

Now your rom will be backed up exactly as you have it set with your personal settings and all.

Then once you bootup you can go to /sd card/external sd/clockworkmod/backup/ Then you will see a folder with lots of numbers as the title. Simply rename it to any name you like with your root explorer or es file explorer, but the name cannot have any spaces in it.

Example of name I use for naming backups:
katana-6.29.2013

I always put the name of the rom and the date of the backup like in example above.

Thank you...I didn't know that. So that's how you can go from Rom to Rom with settings intact. Live and learn:)

Thanks again .......Tom

I do it that way between cm10 and Katana v3. If I have updates I just do another backup and erase the old. I name them as they are, cm10-date and katana3-date

Thanks again GT,
I'm having trouble how I get into recovery. I tried using the app "LTE2/RRecovery and select "Recovery Apply!" and when I reboot I got stuck on the LG screen for so long I decided to remove the battery and restart. I'm apparently missing something. I get the sense from some replies that there is more than one way to back-up (lg's backup or titanium backup) that I'm in the dark about.
Won't try it again until someone can simplify it (I'm sure it is) and walk me through it.
Once I can make the recovery I know how to get to the folder and rename it, I think.
Flashed the battery zip and love it btw.:D

Thanks to all again......Tom

OK, I think I got it....Thank you all again for the help!!
OK, I'm getting to feel like Columbo:D...just one more question Sir....I found the backup folder on my external SD Card in ClockworkMod folder. There are two folders in the backup folder one with 6 items and another with 10 items. They have different numerical names but are both dated 12/31/1979. Are they both part of the same backup or could the smaller folder (6 items) been my first failed attempt? I want to rename the folder Katana6-30-2013 as GT suggests but not sure which folder to rename (the "backup" folder or one of the numbered folders inside it).

Thank you again..........Tom

/sd card/external sd/clockworkmod/backup/????

Once you click on the backup folder, the following numerical folders are your backups. Those are the ones you rename. There should be 10 items in these numerical backup folders.
