Root How can I be low on space...

App data will still be on the 147mb /data internal partition assuming you have not changed hboot. Do you have many apps with large amounts of data?

If you really need more days space you could change your hboot for the CM7r2 one (your Rom supports that one) from www.alpharev.nl however you need to know what you're doing. Read the root memory faq & then ask if unsure. Getting it wrong could brick your phone.

not necessarily, just certain apps usuing a lot of data.

Ah ok. Thanks.
Since I've not a clue which one(s) that might be, I am not really sure how to proceed now. I've flashed a bunch of roms since rooting and not run into this before. Been running this MW for the better part of a year and this is just a recent (couple months) development. I've cleared out a lot of apps, pretty much anything I haven't used in a long time, and all game type things, but still an issue. Maybe time to flash again and try something new....

Wow, its been forever since I've been here. But being the best place on the net to get advice, here I am again :)
Running Mildwild am suddenly getting the Low on Space notification. When I look at info using 4ext it shows ext4 as 1024M, with 677M free. So where is the low on space coming from?
Only the apks and dalvik cache will be moved to sd-ext (I'm pretty sure Mildwild's ROMs move dalvik by default). Having said that, with the sort of app I use then using 347MB of your SD-ext should still leave plenty of space with the CM7r2 hboot. Some apps do use more data than others though. What sort of apps do you use? Modern games use a hell of a lot of internal space in addition to apk and dex (dalvik), so those could cause problems - but I'm not sure how well the Desire would run that sort of thing anyway ;).

There's a little app called "DiskUsage" which can be handy in seeing exactly what is using your space. Might be worth giving that a spin to see whether we can understand the problem.

Thanks Hadron :)
The apps I use are pretty basic ones, a few mail apps, dropbox, flixster, photoeditors, bar code scanner, calendar, banking, a few root apps, couple note pads, blah blah. No 'modern' games - just scrabble type things.
Got DiskUsage - neat lil tool that shows the size of each app and how much data each uses -- but not sure how to use it to trouble shoot this issue. It appears to tell me that Data is 559M, and of that 524 is apps - still doesnt explain why the other 1/2 of the ext4 is not available for use....?
