How to re-install the android version on Samsung devices?

I'm kinda new here, so hello everyone!

I bought four Samsung devices for my family during my last trip in China. Now I'm back to Brazil and I'm having problems trying to set up the phones and the tablet I bought.

The devices are:

1) Samsung GT-I9082 Duos (Dual Sim)
- I can't update the system (it says there was an error during the updating process) and there's no way I can use Google Play (closes after starts loading). There's only a chinese app for getting new apps that I don't know how to use.

2) Samsung GT-I9105P (S2 Plus)
- There's no Google Play on it.

3) Samsung Galaxy Trend Duos GT-S7562
- There's no Google Play on it.

4) Samsung Galaxy Tab2 7.0
- There's no Google Play on it.

So, I kindly ask you, how can I format this devices and reinstall their OS like a factory reset?
PS: I already tried doing the Factory data reset on both of them but all of them were having the same trouble. What I think is that those are chinese versions, because even when I did the factory data reset there were some chinese apps that were still in there.

So what I need to do is to install the lastest android version of each device manually and turn them into a "western" device with google play and all the best android features.

Anyone could help me about how to do this?
I already looked for it on google and in the forum but none of the situation were the same as mine. Couldn't find a proper "Installing Guide", maybe I didn't look at the right place.

Thank you very much!
Cya!

Hello there Gugelmin!

You had purchased these devices in China for use in China with a Chinese carrier correct?

I am almost, but not 100%, that you cannot turn them into a "western" device....the radio hardware alone probably will be the biggest issue.

But fret not :) Someone else may know something I don't.
I'm thinking Mikedt --he's our resident guide who resides in China and knows alot about Chinese products :D

you would need to root each device and put a rom on it that is specifically made for that device (Galaxy tab 2 needs a rom made for Galaxy tab 2 and so on) You can check out the devices in our forums and look into rooting them all other than that your pretty much stuck. Also you need to check to make sure you have radio's for the western world and not on chinese radios.

Hello Mikestony!

So, I did not buy them from a carrier. Both of them are unblocked. I live in China too, but I never had any Samsung device before, I'm a big fan of HTC, that's why I know nothing about it. haha

cheers!

Mikestony is right, but you could maybe have them flashed at a phone shop... and maybe, they will work with some kind of network here. Also, you could root them and install custom ROMs. :sly::sly:

Both are unblocked. I already used it with different Brazilian carriers, my problem is only about they had the chinese android version without google play.

Well, take for instance your first device...the Samsung Galaxy Grand Duos GT-I9082.
Looking around, I see we have a forum for it, albeit a little slow:
Samsung Galaxy Grand - Android Forums

Secondly, I did find this for firmware updates:
Firmwares | SamMobile
Just enter your device GT-I9082.

And I found this, but not 100% sure it is correct. It looks like it, it may be it, but I don't want to offer you a link only for it to bork your device....take a look-see:

While I was uploading the latest Firmware for GT-I9082 and GT-I9105P (China) ODIN couldn't do it.
I got the same message from ODIN 3.07, 3.04 and 1.85:

<ID:0/009> Added!!
<OSM> Enter CS for MD5..
<OSM> Check MD5.. Do not unplug the cable..
<OSM> Please wait..
<OSM> I9105PZCAME2_I9105PCHNAME2_I9105PZCAME2_HOME.tar.m d5 is valid.
<OSM> Checking MD5 finished Sucessfully..
<OSM> Leave CS..

<ID:0/009> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/009> Complete(Write) operation failed.
<ID:0/009> Added!!
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

Already removed Kies, turned on USB debugging, installed Samsung Driver for USB, and runned ODIN as administrator. Also tried three different firmwares from sammobile (latest 3 ones for China).
After all, I still can't upgrade my systems.

Any idea about what's happening and how to solve it?

Thanks!

Send a PM to this guy, he is our resident expert on all things Chinese.:)
Android Forums - View Profile: mikedt

I have just sent the MP to him.

I tried to make the Factory Data Reset again, then disabled all the chinese apps, download google store APK, but I still can't use it on both mobiles, always crash after opening. I also can't update the software, it says the system was modified and there isn't any update avaiable in that case.

I'm going crazy already, if was only one device would be ok, but all of them? S...! Help meeeee! Help!!

PS: I was successful on GT-S7562, got PASS at ODIN, then restarted the device, buuuut when I went to check the apps they were all the same and there's NO GOOGLE PLAY on it. What's going wrong??

Thank you people.

Hello here I am, AF's "authority" on Chinese Androids.

I'm almost certain that Samsungs sold in mainland China have a different baseband to elsewhere, and so would probably make non-Chinese Samsung ROMs incompatible. I recently bought a Samsung, but I bought it in Hong Kong and not mainland for this very reason. In fact when I done a side by side comparison to a mainland Galaxy Win Duos, it had a different baseband, and no Google either.

Possibly the only options to get Google Play etc. would be to root them and try and install it yourself. To install Play onto a Chinese ROM, it has to be rooted and certain frameworks added. Otherwise it just crashes. I've never done this before, so can't really help, but I'm sure others have.

Didn't really help but anyway thanks for that.

I finally got successful with GT-I9082. What I notice is that this device had a chinese custom ROM installed on it. So What I did was installing the latest CWM Recovery on it and later set up this custom ROM: GENNXT ROM for Grand Galaxy. Then was just a matter of setting up More Locale 2 to turn the device into Brazilian Portuguese language and now I'm really satisfatied with the result.

Regarding the GT-I9105P then I got a bigger problem. When I try to install CWM Recovery for this phone it stops at the ODIN's step below:
<ID:0/009> Added!!
<ID:0/009> Odin v.3 engine (ID:9)..
<ID:0/009> File analysis..
<ID:0/009> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/009> Initialzation..
<ID:0/009> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/009> Firmware update start..
<ID:0/009> PK
<ID:0/009> NAND Write Start!!

I'm waiting around half an hour already and isn't done yet, shouldn't take that long right? Does someone have any alternative idea to solve this?
(I'm using this guide to do it)
