I need help. I've got the Verizon Galaxy S4 (SCH-I545), and recently rooted it using the all in one tool from xda. I've also flashed the Google Play Edition S4 ROM, but I want to switch back. How do I go back from the ROM? I'm using ROM manager, and backed up before I flashed the ROM, but when I want to load the backup from before the ROM, it says there is a mismatch and can't restore. Can someone please help me?

Hi yoderra!

Welcome to the forums.

You know, I think this happened to me before on my Bionic. I was using Clockwork and the issue was with the way I named my backup file or folder.

Did you manually name your backup file? If so, make sure it has no spaces on the file name. Or just check your back up folder and see if some how the file ended up having spaces on it.

If that doesn't work, I also found this fix. It requires ADB or maybe you can run the commands through Terminal. I am no expert on ADB though. Sorry.

Is there a way I can just unroot my phone without losing all my data?

Not everyone does but it's always good to research how to undo what your doing before you do it, it really helps to know incase you don't like it. Also be sure to always make a backup of your current ROM to your ExtSD(you could accidentally delete that backup on your phone if wiping before hand) card before you rom. But use CWM Recovery rather then RomManager as you will have less problems... I hope the info and links these other guys give you helps!

I downloaded everything and used Odin while I was in download mode. It gets me about 80% of the bar on my phone, then the Odin says "Complete(Write) Operation Failed" and my phone stays in the download mode with progress bar. What do I do now?

Pull your battery and restart your phone.

Restart your computer and try Odin again. Try a different usb cable if you have one and even a different usb port.

I did a battery pull, turned my phone on, and it says
"Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies & try again"
Kies won't connect to it, and Odin just repeats the same fail thing.

Help?

Do you have another usb cable you can try? Another port or even better another computer? Odin will still work at that screen you're on now.

Also, use something like MD5 Checker to make sure you didn't get a corrupt download of the rom. The md5 for your download is c6c5dced7718a1583f34fd19b26793e4

I've kind of given up and have downloaded the stock ROM for my phone. When in Odin, I select the file, but Odin then freezes and does not respond.

What should I do now? I just want my phone usable again as soon as possible.

Try right clicking on Odin and choose 'run as administrator'. If you have anti-virus running try disabling it.
