Help I cannot move apps to my 32 GB MicroSD

Hello Forum Readers.

I cannot move apps to my 32 GB MicroSD card because my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 only has 9 GB of internal storage left.

So I tried to move any app to my SD card but the "Move to SD Card" option is missing. I can view the SD directory in my Files app with no problems. I also can add pictures and music to my SD card without problems.

Yet, if I try to install an app from Google Play, my "App2SD" app tells me the app can be moved to my SD card. Selecting the app does not display the "Move to SD Card" option. Instead the "Clear Cache" option appears in the Storage section. This is very strange.

Does anyone know how to resolve this issue? Thank You.

Well some good news. A coworker tried to mount the same card in his phone with no such luck. This leads me to believe the card is corrupt. Sigh of relief for now.
Hello and thanks for your reply and observation.
Unfortunately, my 32 GB MicroSD Card is brand new. Radio Shack formatted, installed, and mounted it into my S4. I can view the SD directory using my file app. I can store pictures and songs to my SD card with no problems.
My major issue is that once I download an app and am notified by my Apps2SD app, when I select the downloaded app the "Move to SD Card" option is missing and instead "Clear Cache" option appears in the Storage section.
Does anyone have information about how to resolve this?

The only way to move apps to SD that I know of is to root your phone. I'm not sure if its an ICS or Samsung thing but since the S3 Apps to SD no longer works.

The ability to move apps to SD was removed when Jellybean was released.
Hello and thanks for your response.

The news regarding this Apps to SD issue is getting stranger by the minute.

Why would this very important option be removed? Is this a carrier (Sprint) decision?
Any news on whether this Move to SD card option will be returned in the next release of Android (Key Lime Pie)?
Kind regards.

If you have access to a PC with a card slot see if the PC can format the card.
Hey Valorian, thanks for your response. Radio Shack already did it all for me: installed, format, viewed picture and song files I stored on the Sd card. No problems. But the moment we tried to move any app to the SD card the Move to SD Card option is missing.

I never had this problem while using Gingerbread 2.3.6. I just bought the S4 phone and Jelly Bean for this new issue to deal with. I truly hope Google rolls out an update to address this issue. I do not plan to root my new phone, and invalidate my new contract's warranty.

Thank you and kind regards.

Google removed that functionality in jellybean, so I don't really expect that to come back from Google.

Having said that, Samsung is working on rolling out an update for the S4 that will permit you to move apps to SD. It may be a slow rollout, and may be dependent on your carrier's timelines.

Thank you for the positive news JJ14X. Hopefully the "Move to SD Card" rollout occurs sooner rather than later. Cheers.

Wow! Fantastic! The "Move Apps to SD Card" revolution is underway.
Hopefully this update will reach the shores of our Western hemisphere shortly. Thanks Murzz.

This function will only affect the app, and only when the app developers enable it, AND will only move the app, not necessarily the data. The data is the hog. 9gb is PLENTY of space for apps. Plenty, most apps are under 5mb, and at that rate it would take 200 apps to fill just a gig. It's the data you need to worry about.
