Does my friends in my contact list see my location?

Latitude allows folks to see anyone using the same service. It was one of the first apks I delete via ROM Toolbox Pro as well, as its purpose seems to be spying on folks. I haven't found any other point in it.

I need to log in Latitude using a google account for Latitude to work correct? Or does Latitude work even if I did not log in Latitude? (I mean if I am only logged into other google service such as gmail, is Latitude also silently running in the background as long as I am logged into any other google service?)

Not sure but e911 is CDMA specific. I never see the e911 service icon on any GSM make. In fact it's Verizon specific. They're the only carrier to include it as mandatory around here so I don't buy that "required by law" BS, more like "required by Verizon "

I don't believe in doctors or medicine so I certainly don't like the idea of emergency services always tracking my every move.

E911 is CDMA specific due to the nature of tower triangulation being less accurate in a CDMA system since the handset is only talking to one tower at a time. It differs in GSM networks, although I am sure they still GPS track but unlike the location service in CDMA phones, you can turn it off and they are forced to use tower triangulation if done, however in GSM networks tower triangulation alone is pretty darned accurate. In CDMA they force the GPS locator to remain on and not be user-disabled because that is their only reliable method. But unlike most, I am not too fond of citizen tracking. If I'm labeled a criminal say, for being inside a bank that got robbed and was mistaken for the perp, it would be a lot like being guilty before proven innocent.

As I see it, I should have the right to deny emergency treatment via ambulance or police, so I don't really care about the FCC'S opinion on things. They prefer to protect us from ourselves and do everything in their power to eliminate natural selection in our species, which I majorly disagree with. Heck, the GFCI outlets were removed from my home for the same reason. I'm not so stupid to use a hair dryer in the bathtub. If someone is idiotic enough to do something so foolish and outright inept, they ought to be fried to a crisp.

More of the warnings are for severe weather. Too many people never look up, or pay attention to outside. Also a lot are in transit to home, work, shopping, and the only way to get a severe weather alert is by cell phone. We've had flash floods, fires, and farther east has had F4 or F5 tornados. Amber alerts are "for the children"

Also reverse 911 if you live in a hazard zone. Lots of reverse 911 here due to fires. Usually you have to register for that, but it sounds like V is taking the matter out of users hands.

I do have GSM and I will turn off the damn phone if it doesn't shut up.

I guess the presidential override is another national emergency.

FYI according to FCC.gov, Kentucky isn't one of the States that makes it illegal to block e911 services although I'm sure Verizon would argue otherwise. I've gotten pretty good at Android, and it will not be long before my S3 is rooted and that service gone. It's only a matter of time. There's likely a custom ROM out there which has already removed the service.

Getting back on-topic..... ;)

I also wish to make my location private in all situations.

Go into Settings/Location services and disable any location-sharing options.

Btw, it's also very easy to limit location sharing via Latitude to only chosen contacts if that's your preference. Simply visit Location settings in Maps/Settings.
