Root [Sprint] Did a full wipe before loading a rom.

K...first off...I dun muffed up BAD!

I unlocked successfully, flashed TWRP sucecssfully, BUUUT I think I may have jumped the gun flashing a new ROM, aaaaaaaand maybe kind of possibly sort of didn't back up before wiping. So my question is and maybe someone can help(I beg of someone to help)...what the h*** have I done.

EDIT>I should probably clarify, there is no ROM saved anywhere on my phone and TWRP does not connect to PC. I'm going to frys right now to pick up an OTG, if that works than hopefully this will answer the question of some other desperate dingleberry somewhere out there. or maybe I really am the only one stupid enough to not take my time with my $600 device. Either way, cheers wish me luck.

another option would be to install cw instead of twrp,wich has an option to mound usb storage so you could transfer a new rom to the phone and flash it.

i used to like twrp,but no usb storage mount and no adb daemon running have me using cw touch on my own one.

Thank you for making me feel like I'm not talking to myself! and for your feedback! haha. I flashed the RUU reunlocked, and rooted flawlessly. Ill tell you what though when I flew down to frys to get the OTG, I was on a rampant mission to find that thing. I saw a sales rep get ready to ask me if I needed help, than he just kind of stepped aside realizing iIwould have probably just plowed into him if he didn't. But at the end of the day got the beast working and viper installed.

I thought Android was getting rid of the usb storage because there is no 'sd card' in the ONE. So with CW I can still go into recovery and move files in there as mass storage?

I believe so... But I haven't looked for that lately on the one,so I may be lying to you other phones with no sd card are still able to mount usb storage,so I'm not sure what the difference would be.

Its been awhile since I've messed with this,but I seem to remember not being able to use adb in tarp,wich was the bigger reason for me to move away from it.

Ill have to flash them all again later and check it out

I let my phone ota recently,so I've actually got the stock recovery in place atm

My recommendation is to have at least 3 backups, just in case. I have one in a laptop, one in a desktop, and another one in skydrive.

i stand corrected... doesnt look like any recoveries are supporting "mount usb storage" any more.

I thought that was the case also. I've also read that Android 4.2 shouldn't run with an sd card anymore because it creates issues with stability and performance. I'm a big fan of TWRP and just about every dev cites them as the recovery to flash their ROMs. I like the instructions that you listed for adb but I've never had a chance to use adb much because I like to do all my work through recoveries. I guess I'll take a closer look at cw now. Thanks again for the follow up and information.

what prollems are you having? mass storage isnt working on any of the recoveries,youll need to use adb to push a rom or nandroid,or install something via adb sideload.

I was under the impression that CW could give me the option to do mass storage in recovery. I've used adb to push nandroids but I didn't want to use adb, I wanted to use the recovery.

sorry for the confusion if my comments above are what youre refering to. i mess with a few different htc phones and sometimes its hard to keep it all straight.

im not sure why devs are not incoprating the mass storage into recovery. older versions of twrp and cw have working usb mass storage on evita,endeavor and ville,all running 4.1 so i dont see the prollem

the alternatives are push a rom or nandroid to /sdcard using adb,or to use the "install from sideload" feature now in recoveries. both things work on cw,and both should work in twrp if there is an adb daemon running,but i havent gotten a chance to test that yet. i agree 100% that the mount usb storage option was more convenient.

might want to practice getting it to work,so you youre not trying to figure it out in a semi-panic with a non-working phone

I'm thinking I read what I wanted to read and didn't interpret what you were actually saying. I've used adb and it's not that difficult but I was trying to avoid it. As far as having the time, hey I understand you guys have other stuff to do so don't take it like I'm rushing you. I always keep one nandroid and a ROM file as a back up on my phone just in case I need to use it. I figured I should do that when I couldn't get mass storage in my recovery.

I have a USB OTG Adapter that works fine with any recovery

when you first plugged in a pre-ICS phone into a PC,you usually got a prompt on the phone asking if you wanted to mount as usb storage,or stay in "charge only" mode.

selecting "mount as usb" did pretty much just that- and unmounted the phones external sd card from the phone,letting the PC see it just as it would a flash drive(or sd card in some sort of usb adapter).

custom recoveries used to have used to have an option to "mount as usb storage" wich did pretty much the same thing. it allowed you to simply drag and drop files(like roms or nandroids) onto the sd card inside the phone,wich were accessible to recovery as soon as the usb storage mode was ended.

the one xl,one x,one s for sure allowed the phones internal,non removeable sd to be "mounted as usb storage" in older recoveries,so im really not sure why its not still possible.

since the sd in newer devices is non existant(removable,anyway) its casued a bit of stress for a few folks whove found themselves with an internal sd not being recognized by recovery(maybe thats why its no longer an option),no bootable OS,and no way to remove the sd to put a rom or nandroid on it. with "old school" phones you could always crack open the phone,put the external sd card into a card reader,and pop it into your PC to get a PxxxIMG file(ruu),rom,or nandroid on to it.

the OTG cable/micro sd/card reader/flash drive is certainly anotehr viable option,as i believe custom recoveries are letting you mount that as "external sd". ive run ruus on my one x via OTG micro sd,but havent played with it that much. ill have to add that to my list

any links you have im certainly would be appreciated im sure. with newer devices an OTG cable and storage might be a good thing to add to a "must have for emergency" list

With the file system change of 4.2.2 the location of clockworkmod/backup is no longer available from the PC. So I save all my nandroid backups to USB OTG.
My windows 8 PC shows the HTC one as a portable music player. I have no problems copying files to and from the phone's sdcard. Problem is this is in a new location and no longer in data/media it's now data/media/0.

upgrading to 4.2.2 is very confusing for a lot of people because of this file system change. From the PC it seems all you stuff is lost, when in fact the PC just loads a different folder (data/media/0) and the old folder ( data/media) is no longer accessible from PC

yeah I get it ...only in recovery are you not able to browse the sdcard from windows... but adb push and sideload work fine in CWM so it's no big deal.
