USB Drivers i5700R

So those of us who have Galaxy Spicas (aka Lite) over here in NA where we "aren't allowed" to have NPS or Kies I've finally figured out how to get the USB Drivers working. It's only taken me a million hours to do though.

This all started with me wanting to take a screenshot for the Theme forum.

The tricky part is to get the *right (ish)* drivers for the Spica.

I downloaded the MOBILE drivers from Samsung Moment | Random Tech Info (top link under files) and installed those first (as per the vid's instructions). Not entirely sure what it did but I'll take it and run.

I downloaded the drivers for the I5700 from here
Sameer Prabhakar - Mad Ramblings: Samsung I5700 (Galaxy SPICA) Android 2.1 Flashing Guide (Updated) - This file contains the USB and the Modem Drivers. For the unitiated the Modem = CDC. Found that out through Google (oh how I love thee).

I downloaded the drivers for the ADB interface from this site
Debugging/Installing apps on the G1 (Windows Driver) :: anddev.org - Android Development Community | Android Tutorials. I know that it now says ADB Interface - Android Sooner Composite ADB Interface but it seems to work.

Please keep in mind that other than altering the files that you download/extract, I followed all the steps given in that tutorial video.

This is what my Device Manager looks like (Mass Storage ON, USB Debug ON, Spica connected)

I don't know how well it will work as far as developing apps or anything is concerned but I know I can now use DDMS to take screens (lol the original point of all this blood, sweat and tears).

Strange. All I did was connect my phone in USB debug mode and Windows 7 found the right drivers for the phone. Windows 7 Pro 64-bit and I5700R from Rogers.

That's funny.

I mean before I did all that I could move files to/from the SD and have it charge.

However, every time I turned USB Debug on (ticked) the device would no longer be recognized.

Ended up with this:

No "modem" nor any ADB.

Maybe I'm just special....

Sometimes I find that when I dialpad *#7284# to open phone utilities, and set USB to PDA, then connect again, it will work.
