Different hardware, different carrier, even different continent. The Original Heros being using on T-mobile and ATT don't count. :)

Although it's not out yet, you know how we phone geeks like to talk ad-nauseam about the next hot, new phone on the horizon.

It will be a vastly different experience and issues compared to the Euro version and should have it's own thread. When I say thread, I mean section at like the root of the forum, not just THIS thread here.

I could see where this could get real ugly real fast. Imagine if everyone asked for a different forum because their android was on a different carrier, this place would be a hot mess.

Its a nice concept, but not one that I see practical in nature. The best way to go about it would be to add a carrier or version name to new threads being started to distinguish between the GSM and CDMA verions.

Either that, or start a new topic under the Sprint forum about the Hero. Which would probably be better, as new posts would be less likely buried.

but there is a bit of difference between the two. what other gsm / cdma versions are we talking about? this is the first android on cdma as of right now.

i just feel we should have it because of differences besides if i go to the htc hero and ask certain questions about my sprint hero more than likely people with gsm heros will answer the question and gsm and cdma are not alike in anyway and i would assume people wouldnt start their question out with what hero theyre using it would cause confusion if it was all one.

There has to be a first for everything and this just happens to be the first android to make it to both networks. (CDMA & GSM) While I agree that the networks themselves are different, I'd be hard pressed to say that operating a GSM Hero would be vastly different from a CDMA Hero.

*IF* Rob and the team did add seperate forums, it would best be served to do it based on CDMA and GSM versions rather than Carrier versions. At least that would be far less of a nightmare to manage.

I had suggested a while back that the phones section should be sorted out by manufacture with sub-forums for each phone listed inside. Much like the Lounge Section is done. In a effort to reduce clutter, and to remove duplicate forums. So *MAYBE* Rob or someone could make sub-forums for GSM and CDMA devices of the same name while still allowing for general conversation in the main section.

Already some great specific dialog around this exciting phone that will be bringing Android fans in droves to this forum and others like it...

LOL what way would you have done it? Sub-forum in the Hero section?

Yeah.

I would have put a GSM and CDMA sub forum under the regular hero section. The way I see it, some of the general Hero questions wouldnt need to be carrier/radio specific while some would and since Sprint isnt going to be he only US carrier it just seemed right to me.

This way works too, I just like things more neat and orderly I guess.

For those that want to keep it the way it is, while I understand why, it sets a certain precedent that everyone will refer to when asking for their own section. At some point, one will have to expect more droid devices that cross carriers and/or radios (like the Hero). Should they all get a separate forum based on carrier? That'll make for some fun navigation when looking for a specific droid.
