Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman official discussion thread

My pro 2nd Amendment feelings have always been clear. Having said that, I have a hard time arriving at a conspiracy to further the gun control agenda. I absolutely think there is an agenda though and that some manipulating has been done to steer toward an outcome. Way too stacked a deck for the prosecution going into the trial.

Whether or not the MSM unilaterally skewed the coverage is another story.

Something ain't stirrin the Kool-aid!

I'm a former trial lawyer. There are two words to remember - reasonable doubt.

I was firmly convinced from the beginning that, whatever Zimmerman did (and he acted like an arrogant, foolish, wannabe cop), there was no way a criminal conviction would result. Why? Because Martin was no altar boy and acted aggressively. And we only have Zimmerman around to give his side of the story.

Like it or not, there is more than enough to convince jurors to acquit, or at least to hang the jury (mistrial). It's possible that they might convict - you never know for sure what a jury will do. But I'm 99% convinced Zimmerman won't be convicted.

Do you think anyone here cares that you want them to shut up? <Clue4U; I sure don't.>

There are LOTS of points with this that make it Much Different than the "everyday shooting".

For you to even say that only shows you're completely ignorant of what happened in Sanford at the time of the shooting and how that started a travesty of justice.

I won't tell Anyone to shut up.

I WILL tell YOU that it's better to know what you're talking about before You take your position as a basis to tell others to stuff theirs.

It just amaze me how some want to tarnish the kid image. Who care if he smoke or had a hoody on. We are talking about one particular night some ass following you in his car. Now if I'm walking and a car can keep up with me after a few feet, blocks etc etc, wouldn't you as a human being start to feel unsafe. It's human nature when any one is behind you or your inner fear to react to something or someone threatening. Zimmerman may get off but itwill catch up to him or one of his kids for what he did.

Marijuana can stay in your system for as long as 30 days after smoking. Finding traces shouldn't make someone go beserk.

It does look like the prosecutors are letting this one get away. They are not asking the right questions, such as, why did he continue to follow TM after being told not to and why wasn't GZ drugged tested after the shooting?

Typical of America to prosecute the young black males as the suspects, even when they are the victims.

I'm really starting to believe that this whole case is a setup so that when he is acquitted, there will be a riot and more support for gun control.

Given that - quite incredibly - the murder of 20-some kids wasn't enough to affect the influence of the gun lobby one iota, I really don't see the killing of one youth making the slightest difference. Sadly.

You have to wonder what has to happen to allow the law to go back to where it was prior to Reagan ..

Seriously?... I sure hope you don't have any kids to influence.

I hope you're right that it won't make a difference... But it's a damn shame that you hope it does.

Another person completely ignorant of the FACTS.

There are texts on Martin's phone asking a bud how to hit someone to break their nose.

Martin was in a local FIGHT club and had been in Several fistfights.

Martin was IN Orlando during at least his 2nd suspension from school.

Zimmy of course, is a softy wussieboy who did NONE of that.

There are other racists comments texted on Martin's phone. You'll note the ONLY racist angle to this was put forward by Martin with his "Cracker ass" comment. THOSE are the hate and ill will the Prosecution is trying to paint Zimmy with. They're looking for the twig in Zimmy's eye when there's a racist LOG in Martin's eye.

The ONLY reason those text FACTS aren't in Evidence is they can't prove beyond a shadow of a doubt Martin was the only one texting on his phone and that his badassness would be prejudicial. What they hell? If you are on trial for robbing a bank shouldn't the jury know you've robbed banks before? Who here can Swear that No One else couldn't send a text from their phone without their knowledge? (Some I'm sure but NOT the majority.)

Please don't insult my intelligence with your lack of knowledge that would make you think Martin some little alter boy.

It was a big mistake for the defense not to put Zimmerman on the stand. The jury was waiting for Zimmerman to tell his story. Now they are wondering what Zimmerman is hiding. Without Zimmerman's account of what occurred the jury will be more inclined to accept the prosecution's version of events.

Either Zimmerman would have been a terrible witnesses (Shifty? Evasive? Arrogant? Aggressive?) or the defense made a huge mistake.

I still think there will be a not guilty verdict or a hung jury but the odds have dropped from 99% to 70%

There was no need for Zimmy to take the stand. The prosecution's case is already hollow without him testifying. No reason to allow him to be cross examined

The Prosecution was gracious enough to put Zimmy's words into Evidence For Him. Numerous times actually.

You think Trevon kicked Zimmy's ass? Just wait til what you'd see the Prosecution would do to him. They would have left Zimmy in the fetal position on the floor drooling on himself.

No additional different good could have come from it.

Absolutely Disaster likely.

Typical of America to prosecute the young black males as the suspects, even when they are the victims.

THIS is what's typical in America!

I don't recall race being brought up by anyone but Martin supporters. I have yet to hear anyone in the Zimmerman camp refer to Martin in a negative way based on his race.

The "race card" if there is one, has been being played since the beginning by those who wish to conclude that "Zimmerman must have murdered Treyvon Martin because he's black".

Maybe just MAYBE, Saptech, America (as you say) is prosecuting Treyvon Martin because we won't be blinded by the MSM's influence as to how this incident went down?!?!

Whoever heard of a "bloodthirsty murderer" itching to kill, calling police about a suspicious looking stranger in a neighborhood that's been plagued with break ins and burglaries? Then gives police a detailed account of the stranger's movements through the neighborhood so they can locate him when they arrive? Then after "murdering" the stranger, stays at the crime scene asking neighbors to call police, not caring if he's caught? Then passes a lie detector test verifying that he acted in self defense? In the annals of crime, can anyone provide an example of such a murderer?

I have yet to hear ANYONE in the court of public opinion, indict this kid because of his race! Just stop it now!!!!

<Blowing on fingertips>

Ok, I'll play. :smokingsomb:

You want the race card? Ok. I'll give you a legitimate play of the race card here.

(The MSM won't talk about it because they've been neutered. I on the other hand, haven't been. ;) )

You wanna know who killed Trevon? It DAMN sure wasn't Zimmy.

<Doing that cool Vegas card flip> Trevon's Own Race Killed Him.

With their "culture of violence" where it is completely permissible, yea, even The Way To Act, to settle ANY disagreement, no matter how simple, with Violence. (I would throw in, "and whatever you do, don't help the police, "FIX" the situation yourself" but it's really not germane here.)

Don't believe me? Stop and ask any cop what they know about Any "culture of violence". Watch 2 hrs of the TV show First 48 hours and tell me I'm wrong.

THAT'S what Trevon thought gave him the right to respond to someone wondering what he was doing there by breaking their nose. THAT'S what Started the process that got him dead.

If he hadn't had that influence on him he'd still be drinking Arizona tea and getting buzzed.

There. THERE'S a race card for ya. :D

Lastly, Trevon was looking into getting a gun himself. (Which would be a Felony all by itself.) Zimmy is one lucky boy this all happened before he DID get one.

Can't believe the news media hasn't brought up about the prosecutor being brought up on charges for falsifying the arrest warrant.

Let's not forget how many lawsuits GZ will have once he is found not guilty. The CNN leaked SSN number and the current suit he had open about the doctored audio tapes.

Now tell me they aren't out to get this guy.

Essentially, George Zimmerman’s defense is, I saw a young Black man. I decided he was a criminal. I followed him, confronted him. And I shot him. What’s the problem?

There’s very little question as to who precipitated all of the action, even though there’s question in Zimmerman’s mind. In a national TV news interview where Zimmerman said he wouldn’t change anything from that fateful night.

In other words, he feels everything he did is right, and this case is about whether this society is going to endorse that.

Really???

Show me where he says that? You're making an assumption! Show me an excerpt or transcript where he says or implies that he did it cause he's black! Your use of the word "essentially" is by definition, you speculating!
