I have read and watched many reviews on the Hero and I have yet to hear or read about a notification LED light. I know it sounds like something that isn't important, but to me it is. If anyone has any first hand knowledge or info on this I would appreciate it. Thanks.

The trackball lights up as well as a flashing blue? LED next to where you would put your ear, if holding the phone to talk. On the other side is the light sensor if I am not mistaken.

Edit:
Its actually green and amber, depending.
Solid green Battery is fully charged.
(When the device is connected to the AC adapter/computer.)
Solid amber Battery is charging.
Flashing amber Battery is low. (Battery power is below 14%.)
Flashing green You have a pending notification. (For example, new message or
missed call.)

And

Trackball allows you to select or highlight items on the screen. The trackball also flashes when you receive
an incoming call or a notification.

Setings, sound & display, scroll all the way down to notification flash and you can uncheck those that you dont want to flash and vice versa...

Hope this helps.

It would do if I had that option. In sounds & display the options are as follows:-

silent mode
ringer volume
media volume
phone ringtone
phone vibrate
notification ringtone
audible touchtones
audible selection
sd card notifications
orientation
animation
brightness
screen timeout.

None of which seem to help me. I have HTC Magic, on 1.5 firmware. Build number CRC1.

Grrr, tell me all the phones aren't different?
