Using other's Nandroid

Yes it's possible like doc said as long as is from the same phone you're good to go. I have done it. All I do is remove md5 checksum, delete both files from the backup and that's it restore.

Note:
You will have to modify the nandroid to not include data and cache. Other wise you will be sharing your information as well. Or just restore everything but data and cache. You can do that by advance restore.

I did this with the old galaxy prevail . a CaT on there made a ROM but didn't know how to make it flash able. So he gave UA his back up and said just restore haha it worked well and as long as it was a clean ROM with none of his info all was fun
